About this listen

Freddie Evans is flamboyant, funny, and a lifelong fan of Jane Austen’s love stories which is how he ended up as a guide on a tour bus. He firmly believes in happily ever afters and would love to find his own with his best friend, Darcy.

Driving a Jane Austen tour bus isn’t the most exciting side job in the world, but to Darcy Griffiths, it represents precious time with his best friend Freddie, who’s the guide. He’s loved him since they were teenagers but has never had the nerve to tell him.

Secrets and feelings become revealed as Freddie and Darcy deal with overly amorous newlyweds and arguments over seat allocations. What will Freddie do when he finally realises his very own Mr Darcy is right under his nose?

This novella originally appeared in the Heart2Heart charity anthology, and no new content has been added.

This is a charming novella, ideal when you're looking for something short and satisfying.

Freddie and Darcy are likeable characters with a low angst relationship. The tour bus passengers add some humour, it would be fun to join them on the rest of their trip! There are lots of fun references for Austen fans!

A sweet treat from Lily and Joel!

This was such a splendid listen. It was sweet, super funny, spicy, just a perfect friends to lovers novella.

The side characters were simply amazing, I'm sure I looked somewhat unhinged walking around the supermarket listening to this and randomly laughing loudly 🫣

Lily Morton is relatively new to me so I'm really looking forward to starting more of her books and Joel Leslie is so so good in everything he narrates.

Could not recommend this highly enough ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I loved the concept of an Austen tour guide and his bus driving best friend falling in love, and Darcy and Freddy's story was just as snarky and humorous as all of Lily Morton's best writing. I found myself giggling with delight multiple times throughout their journey, and for a story so short there was plenty to keep me interested from start to finish. Freddy and Darcy had been best friends for ages, and somewhere along the way they'd both decided they didn't want to risk their friendship for romance even though they'd both secretly developed deep feelings for the other. In a twist of fate they'd both signed up for Heart2Heart profiles and started chatting with a potential love match without telling the other, and when that truth came out during a tour they'd been paired up for, everything started changing. With the support of a few well-meaning tourists, Darcy and Freddy suddenly weren't as off limits to each other as they'd always assumed, and all it took was one of them to take the leap of faith for them both to embrace a new facet of their relationship. Freddy and Darcy fell into bed with the passion of two people who'd been waiting ages to get their hands on each other, and it was extra sweet because of the emotional connection they already had as friends. I was thrilled by how happily their shared tour ended, and though the surprise reveal at the end wasn't much of a surprise for me, it was still fun to see Freddy get shocked one more time by how fate kept throwing him and Darcy together.

I almost skipped this audiobook, because, unlike Freddie, I am not a huge Jane Austen fan. However, I couldn't pass up a story written Lily Morton AND narrated by Joel Leslie, and this one is so worth your time. Its a quick listen (about 100 minutes), but it's stuffed full of humor, OTT bus passenger drama, plenty of snark, and secret crushes. Freddie and Darcy are the perfect couple, and although you can easily see what's coming, it's still an enjoyable ride (although maybe not on THEIR tour bus, LOL). I absolutely loved Freddie and his OTT exclamations, and Darcy was a quiet supportive force behind the wheel (including some colorful language over an open intercom...oops). The characters were all quirky and entertaining, and I recommend this listen if you like MM stories, comedy, and/or bus tour shenanigans. There is a very steamy MM scene, too, so be warned.

Joel Leslie does his usual outstanding job capturing the essence of Freddie, Darcy, and all of their passengers in his narration. Enjoyable two thumbs up!

I love this short story! Freddy and Darcy are best friends since forever both are in love with each other and they are too scared to confess their feeling and risk their friendship, I love them!!! they are obviously and anyone can see how they look at each other, when they finally confessed their feelings that can’t keep their hands off each other!! They were great together! Joel Leslie did an amazing job narrating this story!! The accent love it!!
