About this listen

Lillian Phillips could not imagine how her quiet, simple life had come to this. Blackmailed by the Mad Duke of Thornwood into accepting one wild dare after another...all because of a pocket watch. Desperate to recover her beloved father's pawned timepiece, Lily did something reckless and dangerous and delicious - something that led to a night she'd never forget.

When Devon Grey, Duke of Thornwood, runs into a mesmerizing, intoxicating, thieving woman who literally stole from his bedchamber - with his new pocket watch - Devon plots his revenge. If the daring wench likes to play games, he's happy to oblige. After all, what's the ruse of being the Mad Duke if you can't have some fun? But the last laugh might just be on him....

Was very much looking forward to this book as the story read good but between the annoying H and H characters and aggravating voices of narrator it fell very short of my expectations!

Save your credit or your money and don't bother!

Left me wanting.....and for all the wrong reasons!

Good plot, lots of humour. I burst out laughing at times. I find the Duke a bit annoying though. I feel like he took advantage of a drunk innocent lady but is so angry that she left in the morning while he was asleep. He ruined her but he is the one that feels like a 'light skirt'? ridiculous. Not that am condoning her stealing from him, she could have handled that better

The storyline became a little confusing towards the end of the book as the the complexity of narrative increased. I ended up with many questions regarding the characters as their behaviours appeared to show inconsistencies and unresolved issues.
Despite that, I enjoyed the story and it's rather unusual twists towards resolution.

Good range of voices portrayed by Alison Larkin.

It’s annoying when listening to a book that is based in England but has American language - pants, candy. For me it ruins the book

This was a really fun romp, however, the narrator was so bad my son came in giggling asking me how I could even listen to it. I said ‘at speed’ because honestly, the only way I could bear it was to speed it up massively. Made the hero sound insufferable and removed any potential passion with a dousing chill.

Fun romp of a story
