About this listen

Iced lattes, awkward exes, and one unexpected murder—just another summer in Silver Pines.

Summer’s on the way in Silver Pines, and things should be heating up in all the right ways—sunny days, fresh blooms, and steady progress at The Mill, where Clare Garner is finally catching her breath after two back-to-back murder cases. Her custom furniture orders are flowing in and she’s learning to navigate the comfortable, if complicated, rhythm of life between Jackson Barrett and Blake Catalano—two kindhearted men who both know her better than she sometimes knows herself.

But when a coffee world insider winds up dead mid-sip at an iced coffee tasting hosted by the Sunrise Sips Coffee Club, the summer vibe curdles—and Clare is once again caught in a swirl of secrets and suspicion.

With the rumor mill spinning faster than a ceiling fan in July and secrets tucked behind every hedgerow, Clare finds herself juggling gossip, romance, and a growing list of suspects. Between poring over clues, dodging well-meaning matchmakers, and trying not to spill sawdust on her favorite sundress, she’ll need all her intuition—and maybe a few iced lattes—to figure out who’s hiding what.

Because in Silver Pines, the charm’s brewed just right—but the secrets tend to spill over like a clumsy barista.

Murder Over Coffee by Lyla Blue - Book 3 in the Silver Pines Mysteries series

Performed in duet narration by Eleanor Caudill & Sebastian York

This is the third book in this series and Clare is involved in solving another murder in their small town, this time it is at the coffee and food festival.

This is a cosy and easy listen to story with the narration keeping it flowing with little twists and turns and Clare still undecided to whom her heart belongs too.

Eleanor Caudill and Sebastian York are back in duet for this cosy mystery series and are both so engaging; their chemistry is really natural and although there is a pretty big cast of secondary characters, all the performances feel unique and individual.

I preferred the mystery of this one to book two and the backdrop of the food truck competition was an organic way to bring in new characters as Clare is back in sleuth mode trying to solve the latest murder. Clare finds herself getting closer to both Blake and Jackson but this is still slow burn and there is zero heat, with the tiniest of hints that there may be a fourth person who is developing feelings. I really liked how Blake was vulnerable with Clare about Giselle and I'm really trying so hard not to skip ahead to see when this becomes a one horse race!

These are standalone books but if you haven't read book one yet (like me) there are references to the murderer from that book. If you are a fan of cosy hallmark mysteries with low angst you'll really enjoy this quick and enjoyable listen.

The narration was fabulous for this book!
Book 3 follows Claire as she open 'The Cozy' rental units in anticipation of the Perk and Pour coffee tasting event.
After a coffee influencer is murdered, Claire and Blake help Jackson investigate the case.

So ok, I WILL NOT leave a negative review because the story was told well, the characters were sweet (especially the dog!) And the revelations about the case clue and eventual ending was good.

It just wasn't really for me. Im a dark romance girl but do.like a palate cleanser between books. And this was lovely.
If you like cozy no spice books with sweet characters and some Agatha Christie sleuthing then you'll love it.

Im just a bit darker and more twisted than I thought . .

cosy whodunnit
