Summary

Virginia is for lovers - and Storyton Hall is its best vacation spot for lovers of books. The big event this summer at Jane Steward's resort is A Bookish Cook-Off. It's a blend of the literary and the culinary - but someone's headed for the mortuary....

Six chefs are preparing to compete in an outdoor tent at Storyton Hall for prizes that will boost their careers - but is there someone who can't stand the heat? It looks that way when one of the contestants is found dead in a pantry packed with two centuries' worth of cookbooks, among other treasures and rarities.

Could there be a connection to other recent events in town, like tampering with the costume of a local mascot? Jane isn't sure, but after someone serves a second course of murder, the kitchen must be closed and the killer must be found....

The best one yet!

This is my favorite series by Ellery Adams and this is the best in the series so far. The crossover made it that much better. Hoping the special guest returns to Storyton again.

Another Killer Story

I’m a huge fan of this series. Ellery Adams has created likable and quirky characters, set in a dreamy book retreat. I love all the literary references, the mysteries, and the various groups that visit the resort. Hosting a cooking show is a terrific choice for this next installment. Murderously delicious.

Fantastic

Bringing her books together set my readers heart on a high note. I can’t wait for the next book. Until then, I will start this series over from the beginning ... again

The main character needs development

There are a few series that I adore and keep waiting for the next book- this use to be one of them. What is turning me off is the main character making everything life and death and constantly bragging how good her life is and the amazing people she has around her. People are just not that perfect and it’s starting to not be relatable. Before it was characters to strive for and now it just feels fake. It is also loosing the secret library side of it and makes you wonder where can it go from there.

Lousy Narrator

What a disappointment! I have enjoyed the Storyington Hall books read by another person but Johanna Parker was at best over dramatic and at worst unbelievable as a story teller. The premise of this book is weak with little focusing on the murdered soul and the ending wasn’t surprising or interesting. Still, with a different narrator it would have been more enjoyable. Looks like I won’t be able to enjoy any more of this series because Ms. Parker is the narrator on ones I have missed. I’ll keep checking back in hopes someone new is hired but don’t waste your time trying to listen to Ms. Parker
