Mrs Packington felt alone, helpless, and utterly forlorn. But her life changed when she stumbled upon an advertisement in The Times which read: "ARE YOU HAPPY? IF NOT, CONSULT MR PARKER PYNE". Equally adept at putting together the pieces of a marriage or the fragments of a murder mystery, Mr Parker Pyne was possibly the world's most unconventional private eye, and certainly its most charming.

Train journeys through rolling countryside and cruises across the open ocean might sound exotic, but when murder strikes mid-journey, they’re anything but. Even on holiday, tensions can bubble beneath the surface, and when the end of the line leads to murder, everyone’s a suspect.

Think that I am tired of Poirot
Beautifully read by the wonderful David but so very dated now. Agatha has been such a prolific writer for so long and with many of her stories becoming household names via movies, but these short stories did not deliver for me. We have progressed so far in this genre and the gentile nature of Miss Christies work no longer rings true. As for Poirot, he is such a pompous detective even when revealed with such delicacy by Mr Suchet, but I no longer like the man (Poirot, not David)! The world has progressed and with so many writers exploring the dark side of life with great skill, her books seem to have less relevance but for a glimpse into the past. Murder is not pretty or easily explained and I seek depth and a better understanding of what would drive someone to perpetrate the crimes we confront in our everyday lives. Just my opinion of course but that is what these reviews are all about.

David Suchet is fabulous
Whilst David Suchet is synonymous with playing poirot on tv he is an astonishingly versatile voice actor. I was initially reluctant to get this as I’d recently listened to one of my favourite Marple story’s (4:50 from Paddington) horribly narrated by Emilia Fox. Her mangling of different accents & ‘Jackanory’ narration of the characters was infuriating. Thankfully David Suchet is like a golden sunrise after a grim, grey night. He’s so talented with accents, switches seamlessly between a myriad of vastly different characters easily & effortlessly and really brings to life the humour wrapped within Agatha Christie’s stories. Buy this - you won’t regret it!!

Superb....
I have always loved this ere. The way the story is told and the way it has been presented makes you just slow down and listen to it with no care in the world. I'm a listener of Audible on long drives and this story helps you reduce the speed take life a little easier and enjoy the smaller things in life. Love it!!!!
