Quite an enjoyable tale with likeable enough leads but let’s be honest, it’s very similar to stuff being banged out by American historical writers every day, complete with clunky vocabulary (the curse of the stoop strikes again). Everyone is from The Ton and ordinary people only exist to clean the boots of aristos.

If you can detach yourself from all of the mispronunciations, anachronisms plus Americanisms, the book can be enjoyable. The story has many twists and turns, which will keep ones interest. Narration is stilted. Be prepared for all of the aristocrats to sound smug and the Bow Street officers speak like Widow Twanky. An attempt on Welsh accent belongs to comedy show.
Similar to Sheri Cobb South John Pickett books, but less humourous.
