About this listen

When mystery novelist Hazel Martin receives a secretive letter from an old friend who suspects her relatives have murderous intentions, she packs her bags and heads to the country.

Tampered medications, symptoms of poisoning, and suspicious accidents all add up to attempted murder, and it's up to Hazel and her Siamese cat, Dickens, to sniff out the clues. But with a house full of relatives who all have motives, will Hazel be able to unmask the culprit before things turn deadly?

USA Today best-selling author Leighann Dobbs brings back the spirit of the golden age of mysteries in this classic whodunit set in the 1920s.

Overall the book is pleasant and easy, suitable to keep you company if you spend many hours driving like I do.

The plot is typical of other period cozy crimes, but rather predictable.

The narrator is good, but the cat… honestly the cat was so irritating for me (and I’m a cat lover!), it ruined the listening.

Nice only because it was free, won’t spend a credit on the next one

To Americanised to be a story set in 20s England. Apart from that the story and narration are good.

Not bad but

I became rather confused. Story seemed to be set in England and is read by someone English. Then the Americanisms started.. They sounded very odd coming from someone with a very English accent. I then noticed that the author was American. She got a lot wrong and really didn't do her research. This will be the one and only book I listen to by this author.

Odd
