About this listen

When a body is discovered on a nudist beach, the struggling seaside resort of Milhaven is thrust into the media spotlight.

Fortunately, Inspector Hope has just arrived at the sleepy coastal town, much to the annoyance of brassy Detective Sergeant Elaine Carver.

Forced to work together, the temperamental Carver and rather prudish Hope delve into the dead man's past and uncover a darker side to the goings on at the seemingly innocent nudist resort.

Both Hope and Carver are themselves harboring dark secrets and have far more in common than they think. The investigation soon leads them on a path of self-discovery where they have to face their inner demons as they uncover the seedier side to middle class suburbia.

This was a reasonable detective story. Unfortunately the Narrator was appalling. There was humour which was obscured by the narration.

Terrible narrator

What did you like best about Murder Laid Bare? What did you like least?

I enjoyed the characters for the most part. Too many canine teeth and descriptions of Carver chewing gum.

Would you be willing to try another book from Robert Forrester? Why or why not?

Yes, the partnership has possibilities.

Would you be willing to try another one of Robin Rowan’s performances?

Not unless he is able to develop the right accents. Birmingham?

Any additional comments?

Either stick to an American accent for the whole book or get the English accents correct. This is audible, so the narration has to be spot on.
