Story
It is October of 1812. Elizabeth Bennet and her family have seen dramatic changes in the past few months - none of them welcome. Her sister Jane needs a fresh start, and Elizabeth is no less eager to leave behind the pain and confusion of not accepting Mr. Darcy’s proposal. Fitzwilliam Darcy has not seen Elizabeth since he offered for her - and she adamantly refused him. When she appears in London, he is determined to gain her friendship and make amends. When a carriage mishap throws them together, Darcy does all he can to demonstrate his changed behavior.
Summary
When secrets are revealed and a family agenda works against him, can Fitzwilliam Darcy recover his damaged spirits and find happiness?
Following his disastrous proposal to Elizabeth Bennet, Fitzwilliam Darcy returns to London from Kent, broken-hearted and dejected. One bright spot penetrates his sea of despair: His sister, Georgiana, has finally recovered her spirits from the grievous events at Ramsgate the previous summer. She has forged a new friendship with Miss Hester Drake, a lady who appears to be an ideal friend. In fact, Lady Matlock believes Miss Drake is Darcy’s perfect match.
Upon Elizabeth’s arrival at the Gardiners’ home from Kent, she finds that her sister Jane remains despondent over her abandonment by Mr. Bingley. But Elizabeth has information that might bring them together. She convinces her uncle Gardiner to write a letter to Mr. Bingley, providing key facts supplied to her by Mr. Darcy.
When Bingley discovers that his friend and sisters colluded to keep Jane’s presence in London from him, how will he respond? Given the chance, will Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth overcome their past misunderstandings? What will Darcy do when his beloved sister becomes a hindrance towards winning the lady he loves?

Another beautiful Pride & Prejudice story.
I may be biased by now, but I'll happily confess I love these tales. I want to start with the narration of the audio book, I thought the narrator (Stevie Zimmerman) was a perfect choice for the character's voices and was a perfect match to how I imagined the characters sounding. I loved the variations in voices, she definitely keeps your attention with a set of variation and tones for different people and situations throughout the story. Story-telling on point.
On to the story-line itself; I thought the development and structure of the story was entricate, detailing a long and amazing story of the rocky courtship of the future Mrs Darcy and Fitzwilliam, what I loved the most, was the fact that it displayed the good and bad of a strong relationship, the human elements of doubt and guilt and all the actions and consequences that come with it. I like that there's a sense of realism and humanity to the relationship that shows that no matter what era, humans and our feelings don't change.
If I have anything to say, it's that I felt sad that Mr Darcy's cousin, the Viscount, were introduced later in the book, I would have loved to have seen more of him, they came off as charismatic and charming. It already provided an interesting dynamic into the relationship between Darcy's feelings and fears regarding Miss Bennett and how his cousin influenced this, would have been amazing to see a little more.
The best part for me was the conniving Miss Drake getting the most polite but brutal striping down by Lady Matlock. Damn, I love a good comeuppance.
What can I say, I really, really loved this. It was such a treat to listen to and though it's the first one I've ever listened to, I feel 100% like I hit the jackpot in terms of quality and story-telling for my first time experiencing an audio-book. Would definitely recommend this to any Proide and Prejudice fan who loves retelling of one of English literatures most famous couples.

Excellent and very entertaining
I purchased this audible book because I search for any read by Stevie Zimmerman who is an excellent narrator and once again was not disappointed. Thoroughly enjoyed the story, a long book with many interesting conversations and descriptive passages. All the main characters are there and some new. Have to say the Darcy siblings were interesting in this book and at times I felt they needed a good shake thank goodness for Colonel Fitzwilliam. Both Darcy and his sister sulked and had temper tantrums when things didn't go their way. Wickham - well won't spoil the story for anyone thinking of listening to the book but glad to say he got his just rewards!

Entertaining and Well-Written, but Concerning
I've read a veritable mountain of P&P variations in the last six months of COVID isolation, and this one held my attention extremely well. It's definitely among the top half of the pile, and I might even listen to it again in future. It wasn't "bad" at all. In fact, it was very good. If you like P&P variations, you will enjoy this one heartily, and with Stevie Zimmerman narrating, it's sure to be a pleasure for you.
Having said that and meant it: I don't like the propensity in many of these variations to take abusive behavior from their version of Darcy and treat it as romance. There is nothing romantic about a dangerously jealous man, and this story skirts that line. I was SO proud of Ms. Miller for the direction she had Elizabeth going after Darcy's jealousy in the story reaches a peak. I thought this author had constructed a truly new and innovative method by which Darcy will learn that he needs to reform.
But nope. I was disappointed (slight spoiler)
He shows up with a box of donuts and tells her a sob story about how his childhood angst made him do it, and all is brushed under the rug.
Ladies (and lady authors, especially): Men who throw tantrums or walk out on women in unjustified jealous rages...are not romantic. That's abusive behavior, and even if we understand WHY they have the insecurity they have, it must be dealt with and remedied, not just excused.
Still. This story is really well constructed and well-written, and I enjoyed it a great deal. Kelly Miller is fantastic, and I hope to read or listen to more by her in future.

I loved it
The plot and a premise of this story was great, I loved Mr. Gardiner's involvement and a role of a more involved father he played to Jane and Elizabeth. And I adore Bingley with a spine, especially when he sees more than Darcy gives him credit for. The development of Darcy and Elizabeth was very well written and his methods of cutting her were engaging.
Stevie Zimmerman 's narration was brilliant as usual. I absolutely adored Gardiners children and how each of them sounded so realistic for their ages.
Highly recommended.

Enchanting story!
Fitzwilliam Darcy and Elizabeth Bennett's relationship is once again on shaky ground in Author Miller's enchanting Pride and Prejudice variation tale. We're whisked back in time in this romantic take, this time with a twist from Jane Austin's original story, but oh, what better way to reminisce and visit with some beloved characters! In this clever variation, we see a new set of details emerge that are sure to add to the sometimes misfired communications between Darcy and Lizzy. This time adding fuel to the fires is Darcy's sister, Georgiana, an innocent still embarrassed by an almost scandalous situation with Mr. Wickham the previous summer. She confides family secrets to her new friend, Miss Hester Drake, who gives her advice that could be construed as somewhat questionable. Is she using the friendship with the innocent sister for a more cagey intent? Emotions and feelings ebb and flow as gossipy undercurrents are unleashed--will the truth emerge before Darcy and Elizabeth's sparks of romance are swept away? This is my second book from Author Miller that reunites us with characters from this classic tale and it does not disappoint! We're given a chance to better know them as they weave through their latest romantic entanglements. Audio book narrator, Stevie Zimmerman, does an excellent reading of Author Miller's story, her narration laced with the excitement and sometimes forlorn moments in the tale. If you're a fan of the original Pride and Prejudice, you will love this one--highly recommended!

Very enjoyable read and well-written page turner. There is a bit of angst, but for this reader, who stresses out with too much of it, this book didn’t do that—just enough to keep it very interesting. I loved that Bingley got to play a key role. Wickham is a surprise. A new character seemed a female Wickham able to deceive with verbal charm. There is one unfortunate proofreading error that refers to Darcy’s mother, but I believe it should have been his aunt? I highly recommend this book.

Great P&P Variation
I've been on a P&P variation streak recently, of the 10 or more I've listened to in the past couple months, this one ranks quite high. It picks up after "the misunderstanding" and weaves a completely new story from then on. What I like about this story is that the characters remain true to their intended nature, unlike some variations where you don't even recognize their personalities. What you really get to experience in this version is their inner struggles, strengths, insecurities and growth. I also like that this story has a completely new villian and has some surprise endings for a couple characters.
I would definitely recommend this story if you enjoy PPV's with the classic witty banter and character development plus super sweet moment between our favorite characters.
