About this listen

"Life changing" Red Magazine

"An important and impressive book, that will change how you experience motherhood" Dr Julie Smith

Modern motherhood is insane. We’re expected to parent perfectly, bounce back, enjoy every moment, forge ahead at work and keep smiling through all the endless expectations – all whilst forgetting about ourselves.

Based on years of research, proven transformational coaching tools, world-leading expertise from hundreds of podcast guests such as Dr Gabor Mate Philippa Perry and Dr Becky Kennedy and real-life stories from the Motherkind community, this validating, judgement-free book will help you to:

  • Understand the pressures of modern motherhood, and why you’re not failing
  • Support yourself through the daily ups and downs
  • Change your relationship with guilt, and finally feel good enough
  • Handle your challenging emotions and reactions in a new way
  • Learn why ‘self-care’ doesn’t work – and what does
  • Ditch the idea of ‘balance’ and embrace boundaries instead

This empowering book will give you the tools you need to thrive in modern motherhood and become your happiest self – for yourself and your children.

"Zoe is incredible. I have learnt so much from listening to her podcast, I'm a huge fan! This book is such a wonderful resource for ANY parent, to help them understand why parenting is so hard. This book offers us confidence and reassurance that we AREN'T doing anything wrong and helps us truly understand ourselves after having a baby – something I've struggled with for a few years. Personally I feel like all mothers, parents, carers and mothers-to-be should have a copy of this book and should be taught the word – Matrescence. I don’t write reviews very often but this book definitely deserves to be highly recommended.

As a mother of four grown-up children I struggled SO much with being a mum. I gave my absolute all, but never felt I was enough, always felt I fell short, never living up to the expectations I felt others, and myself, put upon me.

How I wish I had read this book then!
I am now a grandmother to five young children, so I have still benefitted a lot from Zoe’s words of wisdom and encouragement.

I am also a midwife and I teach antenatal classes. I will be recommending Motherkind to all my expectant parents.
I have listened to the audiobook, plan to re-listen to it, and have bought the book!

Well done and thank you Zoe for this refreshing, honest and beautiful book that will help so many mothers gain a new, better perspective of their life and their important roles.

Time to let go of shame, guilt and disappointment, and to say that I was, and still am, enough.

Fantastic support for all mothers

An absolutely fantastic book on motherhood that everyone should read. I loved the themes covered in the book and the kindness and compassion pouring from it. Scattered through each chapter are anecdotes, musings and things to add to your 'toolkit' which were great too. I've already gifted this to one friend and will be recommending it widely to others. The only thing that let it down was the most irritating narration that I've ever had to listen to, never heard someone say EVERYYYYYY so much in my life (incredibly difficult to ignore once you've noticed it!)

A must read for all mothers

I love Zoe’s podcast but this book is everything I’ve been needing. Amazing for new mums or any mum really! Reassuring, empowering and kind.

I love this
