Meeting the family is scary. Surviving them is a nightmare.

Connie can't deny she's nervous about meeting her boyfriend's family. Spending the weekend at their ritzy woodland summer home, Evan's already given her fair warning that his parents are cold, snobbish, and especially unpleasant toward those outside their usual social circles.

What starts as a 'body snatchers' premise turns into something greater and more layered, as family relationships implode against an imaginative Horror background - I'd have loved to know more about the monsters' lore and origin. Satisfying ending too, so this was a great addition to the free listen catalogue. Will certainly be searching for other titles by the same author, happy to spend a credit if they're in this vein!

This got to the point that it just seemed like a huge list of character names being listed, I lost interest quite quickly, so after 4th time of restarting and trying really hard to like it I gave up. Really looking for some fresh horror the type that can be believable but you can choose whether you need to check under the bed or double check the locks before sleep, but this sadly isn't it, narrator has a nice voice.
