About this listen

The first volume in a stunning trilogy set in the world of Arthurian legend and told from the perspective of its traditional antagonist, Morgan Le Fay.

Even as a girl Morgan has always been wild, like the seas which batter the cliffs beneath her home, Tintagel Castle. But she has always been safe, too.

Then one day her father is called away to a war from which he does not return. In his place comes the High King, Uther Pendragon, with the sorcerer Merlin lurking in his wake. Uther claims Morgan’s mother, the Lady Igraine as his queen.

Now, in a world of knights and chivalry where she is all but voiceless, Morgan is faced with a choice: to follow her own fierce intelligence or to submit to the limitations powerful men would place upon her. She cannot, she will not choose submission.

So begins this richly told debut from Sophie Keetch, which traces Morgan’s journey to adulthood. She will fall in love with a man saved from the sea. She will defy kings and suffer the consequences. At times she will almost despair. But ultimately she will discover a power in herself that even Merlin is awed by–a power that will give her control of her own destiny and which see her join Arthur at Camelot.

And even this is only a beginning…

Critic reviews

"An enthralling new take on the Arthurian legend, beautifully written, superbly narrated." (The Times)

"Evocative, haunting and utterly addictive, this is a book to lose yourself in." (Tracy Borman, author of The King's Witch)

"Keetch’s Morgan does not disappoint … literally fire and a perfect harbinger of the woman Morgan is destined to become!" (Stacey Thomas, author of The Revels)

"This is the Arthurian legend as you rarely see it: told not by Uther, Arthur or Merlin, or indeed their male champions, but by the complicated woman they condemned. Keetch's Morgan is vulnerable, courageous and defiant. She makes the legend hers, and I can't wait to accompany her on the next part of the journey. For lovers of the untold story, Morgan Is My Name is a convincing and compelling read." (Lucy Holland, author of Sistersong)

I rarely write reviews but this really deserves it, beats Mists of Avalon by far and I never thought I would say that. can't wait for the next one!

fantastic

Merlin started interfering in Morgan's life as a young girl by using magic to replace her beloved father by Uther Pendragon a violent man she hated . Sent to an Abby , chosen by her mother, she studied parchments and learned to treat ailments reolizeing that she had power to heal by placing her hands on afflicted areas of the body.

Sophie Keetch wrote of a girl living in a society where women are powerless. Her husband who she never loved and finally hated abused her confidence so she burned him and arranged to leave him with she newborn child.

I can't wait for the next book.

A thoroughly captivating novel - although based on ancient legend the storyline gives a fresh perspective.
I eagerly await the next novel in the series.
Great narration - a brave attempt at Welsh pronunciation Cariad 😊

I very rarely write a review but I felt this was such an exceptional production it deserved one.
I am largely ignorant of Arthurian legend so I came to this knowing little and with an open and curious mind.
As soon as I started listening to Vanessa Kirby’s mesmerising voice I was hooked. It is a beautifully written and utterly absorbing tale and as I hobbled about after surgery I was taken completely away from my immediate situation and lost myself to Morgan and her story.
I cannot recommend this book highly enough. I listened on Audible but it would be a wonderful read in book form too.
It makes me realise how rare it is to stumble upon such a gem and I hope Ms Keetch is working on a sequel as I write. Congratulations on such a fine first book and for such a wonderful collaboration with Audible and Vanessa Kirby who more than did it justice.

Spellbinding
