About this listen

Shortlisted for: Popular Non-Fiction Book of the Year – Specsavers National Book Awards 2012

Possibly the only drawback about the best-selling How to Be a Woman was that its author, Caitlin Moran, was limited to pretty much one subject: being a woman.

Moranthology is proof that Caitlin can actually be ‘quite chatty’ about many other things, including cultural, social and political issues which are usually the province of learned professors, or hot-shot wonks – and not a woman who once, as an experiment, put a wasp in a jar, and got it stoned.

These other subjects include:

  • Caffeine,
  • Ghostbusters,
  • Being Poor,
  • Twitter,
  • Caravans,
  • Obama,
  • Wales,
  • Marijuana Addiction,
  • Paul McCartney,
  • The Welfare State,
  • Sherlock,
  • David Cameron Looking Like Ham,
  • Amy Winehouse,
  • Elizabeth Taylor’s Eyes,
  • Michael Jackson’s Funeral,
  • ’The Big Society’,
  • Big Hair,
  • Nutter-letters,
  • Failed Nicknames,
  • Wolverhampton,
  • Squirrels’ Testicles,
  • Sexy Tax,
  • Binge-drinking,
  • Chivalry,
  • Rihanna’s Cardigan,
  • Boris Johnson – Albino Shag-hound,
  • Party Bags,
  • Hot People,
  • Transsexuals,
  • The Gay Moon Landings,
  • My Own, Untimely Death

Love her views on feminism, politics etc. not so much her rambling about Dr Who, Sherlock Holmes, Lady Gaga, television.....

I gave this a good go, I really did, but your smug, irritating intonation defeated me. "Look! I'm mad! I interview famous people! Oooh, get me, I'm bonkers but lovable!" Thanks but no thanks. I need to lay down for a bit with a damp flannel over my eyes.....

Oh, Caitlin....

great to hear the woman herself delivering her witty and thoughtful columns. Some of the longer pieces are very good, in particular those with rock stars, esp Lady Gaga. Enjoyed every minute.

must read for al Moran Fans

She looks at things in a very entertaining way, she’s good at laughing at herself, very insightful and creative. What a lot of legends she’s met - jealous!

Entertaining

How can Caitlin Moran write so brilliantly then completely balls-up reading it?? Couldn't finish, sounds like Jeremy Clarkson on crack.

Definitely one to read, not listen to
