Summary

Prepare to be swept off your feet by the romantic and irresistible sequel to the Sunday Times best seller One Enchanted Evening.

London, 1937.

With a new King in place, tensions are rising in London and across Europe. Shaken by the Great Depression and with talk of another war coming, the Buckingham hotel is trying to regain some stability. But demonstration dancer Raymond de Guise is noticeably absent from the Grand Ballroom dancefloor.

Downstairs, chambermaid Nancy Nettleton misses him, but is finally starting to feel more settled at the Buckingham, and hopes her brother Frank will soon call London home, too. But how will timid Frank handle the big city? Will he be able to cope with the more unexpected tasks asked of him at the hotel?

And upstairs, Vivienne Edgerton is desperate to do something worthwhile with her time and her step-father's money, rather than spending it on dresses and frivolities - but will this land her back in trouble?

The staff and guests of the Buckingham soon discover that in a hotel full of secrets, there's always someone listening....

Brilliant!!!!

I could not stop listening to this book. Follows on so well from the previous book. I just want to listen to the next one as soon as I can if there is one.
It made me feel like I was so close and almost in the scenario.

Simple but oh so charming!

Anton has done it again....a captivating simple story that draws you in to the life of the Buckingham Hotel.
It’s certainly not sophisticated writing but it’s honesty has a charm all of its own such that you can visualise Anton spinning you a yarn.
Don’t stop Anton., spin us around the dance floor again please!

Not just a dancer!

Eagerly awaited this follow up, worth the wait. Any book that “takes me there” is wonderful. Hope there is going to be another instalment.

Atmospheric

I enjoyed this book. It has a bit of everything; dancing, moral dilemmas, intrigue, and especially, romance!
I had now better read the first of Anton du Beke's books!

surprisingly good

I wasn't really expecting very much from this series of two books. I thought it might be a change and a light read but I was pleasantly surprised. A good story line with a diverse cast of characters. Very impressed.

Lovely pre-Christmas romp!

Having read the first book in this series (at least I hope it's going to be a series!), I was very much looking forward to book number 2. I was not disappointed. The story of the Buckingham Hotel, it's staff and it's customers continues in a wonderfully entertaining vein, proving to be romantic, intriguing, touching and even a little thrilling!!
Well done Mr Du Beke, I await your next offering with excited anticipation!

Just as enchanting as his first novel!

I really enjoyed listening to this book. It picks up where the previous one left off - Raymond de Guise and Nancie Nettleton once again being the main charachters. There are lots of twists and turns that I didn't expect for Viviene and Helenne and also the introduction of a few new characters. The story is explosive - literally - but there is also sadness, intrigue, redemption and of course true love. This book had a different narator to the first novel - for me he wasn't quite as good but didn't retract from the enjoyment of listening to this new story by Anton du Beke. There is also an introduction from the author who again sets the scene as per his first novel. Overall for me it was a great read and I hope there is more to come.
