Summary
Finley Knight, ex-cop turned private investigator, lives a lonely, solitary life. She uses her downtime to reflect on the past and wonders what could have been.
Detective Dee Woodard transferred to Corpus Christi nine years ago to put distance between herself and her ex...an ex she was still in love with. A murder investigation leads her to Moonlight Avenue and Finley Knight.
Rylee Moore left the windy plains of Amarillo in her rearview mirror, hoping to start over in this city by the bay, only to find employment hard to come by. Finley Knight wasn’t hiring either, but Rylee’s begging and pleading - and not taking “no” for an answer - finally lands her a job. Not as an apprentice, as she wanted, but as the lone employee at Moonlight Avenue Investigations - receptionist.
After a gruesome third murder, Dee is booted from the case. She joins Finn’s team...the chase bringing them closer and closer to a vicious drug dealer.
Amongst the chaos, crime, and cover-up...love pokes its head above the water. But can they stay alive long enough to explore it?

Lovely story, enjoyed listening to it.
Could not wait to listen to it. The reader was easy on the ear. Looking forward to listening to more of Gerri Hill's novels.

A confident little story
I was not sure about this story, it seemed to lack a little depth at the beginning but as it unfolded it opened up so many angles and storylines that it got very complex. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Great story.❤
Absolutely fantastic adventure that kept me wanting more. I really enjoyed this storyline with such great characters and look forward to a sequel.
The narrator was brilliant and told the story well.
I definitely recommend this crime romance. ❤

crime/mystery/thriller
only have a few, not my normal genres, but it's a saphfic romance too, and I have to admit I throughly enjoyed the afore review title aspect.
Great story with our mc pi following the clues, can imagine this as a Hollywood film, full of action 🎬 😀
here the writing is great and I love the narrator

Kinda gave me the ick
The plot was alright but... I really struggled with the constant "Get yourself a young woman to look after you" and the main character referring to the woman that she'd slept with as "kid" type things. Huge ick. Feels like a man who's pretending to be an expert on tough women wrote this, and as a result, the main character is like a grumpy, stubborn old man rather than a strong, attractive woman. The narrator's croaky type voice doesn't help this either.
