Summary
#1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts surpasses herself once again, with a novel as sweeping and extraordinary as the Montana sky itself....
When Jack Mercy died, he left behind a ranch worth nearly twenty million dollars. Now his three daughters - each born of a different mother, and each unknown by the others - are gathered to hear the reading of the will. But the women are shocked to learn that before any of them can inherit, they must live together on the ranch for one year.
For Tess, a screenwriter who just wants to collect her cash and get back to Hollywood, it’s a nightmare. For Lily, on the run from her abusive ex-husband, it’s a refuge. And for Willa - who grew up on the ranch - it’s an intrusion into her rightful home.
They are sisters...and strangers. Now they face a challenge: to put their bitterness aside and live like a family. To protect each other from danger - and unite against an enemy who threatens to destroy them all...

Not one for animal lovers!
I usually enjoy Nora Roberts books, they’re an easy listen when walking the dogs and you don’t have to concentrate too hard. I just wish it had been mentioned in the blurb, that there was animal torture referenced throughout the book, I wouldn’t have bought it. Although the story was a good concept, this aspect of it spoiled my enjoyment.

Great Story, pity about the narration
This was a great story and the narrator was good - until she attempts male voices. Omg, all the men sound like total creeps, even the romantic interests sound absolutely awful, like creepy old men, and it just ruined the romance for me. What on earth was the production team drinking? I persevered with this as I was interested in where the story was going but in hindsight I should have returned the audio and purchased the book.

This story was a bit of a change for me I don't usually read cowboy stories. This was an excellent story well read and performed. I never guessed who the bad guy was and that makes a good book, there's nothing worse then getting half a dozen chapters in and knowing who the bad guy is. Great story I would highly recommend it.

FANTASTIC READ
Now this was truly a good book - I almosted wanted it to be a trilogy but Nora did a great job putting them all together and not doing anyone any injustice.
The story line was great - the twist totally a shock - left me with a "huh" and then I just couldn't shut it off because I had to see how it ends!
Erika Leigh is a great narrator - thank you for making this book come to life!

Montana Sky EXCELLENT by Nora Roberts
Any additional comments?
^
Mean old Jack Mercy has owned a ranch in Montana forever, with his daughter Willa, working at her his side. He's never given her an ounce of affection, encouragement or anything a daughter craves from her father. However, he has taught her life on the ranch, what needs to be done, how to do it and do it well.
When he dies there's a huge surprise to Willa when the will is read. It turns out that he has two other daughters by two other women. The condition of their inheritance is that they all live and work on the ranch together for one year.
This is a big challenge for social light from the East Coast & a diva from the west, in Hollywood. They decide to give it a try each focused on her own reason. Willa, because ranch life is all she's ever known. Tess, the West Coast Hollywood – with her eye on the amount she can receive for selling off her portion at the end of the year. Lily, who is running from an abusive husband. Where better to hide then rural Montana?
The angst of the sisters trying to get along and adjusting to life on the ranch make for some fun shenanigans and, for me, a few giggles. But suddenly a body turns up, things get very serious very quickly because these women live alone and only one knows how to shoot a gun.
We are introduced to several men, ranch hands, businessman, an attorney, and potential suitors. There are a lot of characters to keep up with but each one is necessary to the plot.
As bodies continue to turn out, each in a more disturbing manner than the prior. They learn how to shoot guns, patrols are set up to police the area – everyone in the town pitching in.
Though I was able to make an educated guess as to who was causing all the problems, it wasn't until less than an hour left in the book and I had no clue as to who or as to why. Fortunately, Nora Roberts ties up each loose in a satisfying way.
I thought that this book was a historical set and a historical setting, but it was not. I suppose it COULD be considered a historical book as they don't mention email or text – but they did mention FAX machines!
Sometimes it is hit or miss for me with Nora Roberts, but this one was definitely a hit and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it.
I recommend for those with tastes similar to mine. Constant action, romance and mystery.
The narration was exceptional especially when the number of characters are factored in. I mentioned that I had a hard time keeping up with the characters in a few places. However, the narrator performed in a way that after a few seconds I was caught up again.
Notes: Descriptions of violence, on humans and animals & some scenes (not graphic) that would be considered mature themes.
If my review has helped you make a decision whether to purchase this book or not, would you take a moment and select yes immediately below this text. Thank you.

A western saga at its best
This is a wonderful slice of life story that spans an important time in a young woman's life. Willa has depth and character that stands on its own. This is the story of her coming of age and attaining womanhood. Her love interest, Ben, is more than enough man to handle this western woman. A great listen.

What did you like best about this story?
The story was great.
Have you listened to any of Erika Leigh???s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I hadn't heard this narrator before. She did a good job.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
I had seen the TV movie of this book and had decided not to buy the audio book. I finally changed my mind and am really glad I did. It was well worth the price.

Gripping
This story is gripping. Heartwrenching, heartbreaking and good. I like every thing about the storyline, characters. Even if it scared the stuffing outta me. NR's bad guys are terrifying. The narration was really good. However, I had to "adjust" myself to enjoy some of the voices. The narrator did a great job of givng each character their own voice. Not all are easy to listen to but she did a great job. This story scared me silly. And I did not figure it out. I would like to listen again but I am not sure I can. Scary but really good story.

more violent than expected
The story had some really great qualities that I almost missed due to the graphic violence described which is why I did not rate it high. I was not expecting the violence and almost did not continue the book, until I came up with the idea to fast forward through the violent scenes. I wish I was aware of the nature of the story before purchasing this book.
