Summary

Life can change in an instant. For Ryan and Karen Lane, it happens on the morning they discover their 12-year-old daughter’s window open, their beloved Maddie missing from her bed. Police investigate. Suspicions swirl. A teenage boy admits he was outside her bedroom window the night she disappeared. A halfway house for convicts recently opened in the neighborhood.

The Lane family is thrown into turmoil, and then the detectives turn their sights on them. No one is ruled out - not Karen, with her tragic past, who argued with her daughter; not Ryan, with his violent streak; not Maddie’s 13-year-old brother, Tyler, who heard voices in her room the night she vanished. Days, weeks, months, then agonizing years go by without answers, the Lanes fearing that Maddie is gone forever...until a stunning twist shocks everyone, plunging the family deeper into a world of buried secrets that’s revelations threaten the very foundation of their lives.

Teenagers with secrets...

I think I've either read or listened to every book Rick Mofina has ever written. I think he's one of those authors you can count on to consistently write a book you would want to curl up with for the day.
So, this book deals with a missing child as you can read in the publisher's summary. It's also believable in the narrow sightedness of law enforcement's treatment of close relatives when a person goes missing and their inability to look farther.
This book has some nice twists and you don't actually find out "who done it" until almost the end. There are vague hints along the way but they are easily missed.
If you've never listened to anything by Rick Mofina this stand alone is a good place to start but I do think his Reed and Sydowski or Jason Wade series are better.
Mark Owen does a very good job narrating. This book is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Got enough cliches?... Ugh

" kids these days" seriously? And one of those dad's who thinks his daughter is an angel abd every male in the county wants her. Yuck. Mr. Mofina this reads like the worst lifetime movie with Daddy wanting boys arrested... daddys little girl is an angel blah blah.
If you like cliches, corny lines etc. This is the book for you.
Nothing fresh here nothing new or with an edge either. And it really should be under religious books.

Unusual

A different kind of crime mystery storyline. There’s a lot of surprises and twists and turns. I think you’d really enjoy it. JC
