Summary

Was it possible that there was a man out there who could see past Lenny’s damaged body and soul, and want to claim him as his?

Lenny has suffered things that no person should have to endure. With that comes health issues that impact on how he sees himself, leaving him feeling isolated.

That is, until a chance meeting.

The world that Lenny understands is now spinning in a different direction, and he isn't sure whether to hold on or let go. Never having had anyone to catch him before, can he trust Nathan?

Can an introduction into a BDSM lifestyle be everything Lenny didn’t know he needed, as he discovers being a virgin is not always a bad thing?

Mine, Body and Soul is the first part of a three-part story in The Playroom Series. This is a slow burn MM gay romance, with an age gap and a sexual awakening.

Warning: This book has a HFN ending. There are also aspects of childhood trauma touched upon briefly.

Great listen

Great ending to Nathan and Lenny's story. I really liked their story. I liked the voice of the narrator, Matt Haynes. He did a good job.

A beautiful audiobook,

I really thought I had written a review but I had only typed a draft ... Sorry about that .. This is such a great read / listen , I know I had so many different emotions ... all to be remembered. Lenny had a rough beginning to life and he had dreams wonderful dreams of a future .. Nathan is part of that dream , a dream that I couldn't stop thinking about all through the audiobook. Nathan is a Dom as well as such a thoughtful man ... a man who knew what he wanted and who he wanted .. Such a wonderful story about two men who need each other, for the reader to be taken on such an emotional story , I was left breathless.. Wonderful words by JP Sayle with perfect narration by Matt Haynes.

Solid start to a series

I liked the uniqueness of the relationship and that the characters were true to their nature (even though one of them seemed to cry an awful lot). So often in this genre we are repeatedly told what a character is, but nothing the character does is suggestive of that background. While that is partially true for one of the characters here, as this is a series starter, it seems safe to assume the next book will likely concentrate on that character. For this first part, we definitely got to experience Lenny. I also liked that this book offered a story that didn't depend on the sex to pull readers in. What I wasn't a fan of was the narration. The inflections were odd and at times the tone was in total contrast to the story being told which detracted from the persuasiveness of the story.

Amazing start

I was a little skeptical when I first started this series, BDSM with D/s relantionships are usually not my jam, specially when it's a 24/7 thing. But I was plesant enough to discovered that Lenny and Nathan story is more than just their kink or their roles in the lifestyle. Lenny is truly new to the scene, and it was really well done. He wasn't a "natural" submissive, but had submissive tendencies and was willing to give it a shot. You can feel his struggle and reluctance to let any other person see his body, to let another person see him. Nathan is a soft dom, the kind I most love. He is compassionate, sexy, caring. Beautiful first start of a series. Matt Haynes did an amazing narration. He is a voice actor, he doesn't just read the book but also put emotions behind every scene, every speech. His pace was spot on, the pauses between sentences was also good. And I could differentiate all characters.

as good as the ebook

The story is always full stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook. I can't listen to an audiobook without knowing the book, that's not possible for me. The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. It took me a little bit, to come into the narrator, but at the end, it worked. I only have to take a few breaks between. I'm just not yet finish with the book, I’m over the half, but I listen enough to give a review. PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!! To my ratings: 5* - very very good it's like an A+ 4* - very good and will be often re-listening it's like an A 3* - it's more then a one-time-listening. it's like a B

Accent is a bit weird

Sorry but that's the first thing I thought when writing this review of the Audible version. The accent is the strangest one I've heard yet. I'm English and I couldn't place it from any region. The book however is good, but ends very suddenly and the next 2 books aren't on Audio yet, so will have to read them without the accent, which could be a good thing.

The beginning of something wonderful

Lenny has had a rough go of it. The book opens with a scene that is tragic and traumatic for the young boy and his life after that doesn’t go much better. His story is the same of so many – ineffectual parenting followed by years of foster care. He is eventually rescued by someone who offers him sanctuary and love but by then the damage has been done. In some ways he’s broken emotionally, but he’s most broken physically. He’s got a condition that makes daily life a challenge and when his body acts up, it can be devastating for him. Enter Nathan. Nathan runs a BDSM club and is looking at expanding into a restaurant. He’s successful, attractive, and a Dom. He meets Lenny and the attraction is instantaneous. But Lenny is young and untested. He isn’t even that familiar with BDSM. Yet the pull between the men is palpable. Nathan is also determined to discover Lenny’s secrets and instead of being repulsed by the physical ailment, he embraces Lenny. He sees potential. He sees a damaged soul. He sees someone he wants to have a relationship with. Lenny’s physical ailment stands in the way of some of their potential interactions but not all. I liked that it wasn’t the be all and end all. The illness was merely present. And something that could be accommodated. I love damaged souls. Love it when they find someone who sees them as a whole person and not just their illness. Someone who might one day be more. They do a scene and it’s clear on both sides that the men want more. This book ends on a strong HFN (Happy For Now). There’s no doubt the relationship is just beginning, but there are hurdles to be overcome. Matt Haynes is a new to me narrator and I enjoyed his performance. But then I’m always a sucker for a British accent. I’m very excited to see where this series goes next.

A great start to a series

l really enjoyed listening to this story, my heart melted at the vulnerability of sweet Lenny. Life had been too cruel to him, until he met Nathan. The smoldering chemistry between the characters had kept me hooked till the end. l was sorry it finished when it did, l wanted more, l want to know how Lenny will cope in a world he has never experienced. The narration was very good, l love listening to a real British accent.

Lays the groundwork for books 2 &3

Slow to get going. Just as it picked it ended. Another sub holds all the power (but not) book lol I have reconsidered having read book 2. The first instalment (book) sets the scene to perfection and we get a more rounded view of the MCs. It's all makes sense now, onto book 3, I must know how it all ends.

good start

Did the story keep me engaged: yes Were there any parts I found annoying: no Did I feel a connection to the characters: yes Would I listen to it again: yes JP Sayle is a new author for me. Mine, Body and Soul has good pace, interesting characters and sets up what looks to be an enjoyable and interesting series. I liked that both M'C's have flaw's, that Nathan is considerate of Lenny's innocence and that Lenny, although having had a hard start in life isn't jaded and angry - every kid needs a Nellie!. I would have liked a little more character building, but I expect this will come as the series progresses. I look forward to future instalments. I think Matt Haynes has done a good job bringing the characters to life. I had no problem distinguishing who was speaking and enjoyed the audio experience. < I received a complimentary copy of this book at my request - it has in no way influenced my review. >

life after pain

love the banter between Lenny and his boss Carl, thay act like brothers. when the prologue started I thought that this book was going to be about Lenny and his struggles, but as it went on I knew I was going to enjoy it. the kitchen scene had be laughing. Imagine meeting someone at first sight and knew you would never forget that person, that is what I think Nathan felt. Lenny and Nathan's life before hadn't been smooth, maybe this is the beginning of better days. Thank you JP Sayle for a great read. looking to more in the series.

Absolutely LOVE this story

Both author and narrator are new to me, so I wasn't sure what to expect. What I didn't expect was to be BLOWN AWAY! Seriously the plot, characters and message were perfect, and the narrator really brought it all to life beautifully. This is an absolute MUST listen, you won't be disappointed. I'm looking forward to listening to more stories by this author and narrator :)

Lenny gets his break

After a rough hard beginning in life, it was good to see Lenny get a break in life and love . I enjoyed meeting a lot of wonderful characters that I look forward to following in this series. I love a good underdog story, and this is one to read. The story is not without obstacles and complications, but the end is a great starting point. I can't wait for more of Lenny's training with Nathan. I look forward to seeing how the dynamics of their relationship progresses. The narrator's voice and expressions added to my enjoyment of this story. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this story and am giving an honest review. I like that both mc gave physical flaws. It adds to the reality of the story.

This audio was amazing! The book was wonderful just by its self and now adding the narrative to it is just out of this world. Matt's voice for the characters was just perfect! Such a wonderful job I can not say enough good things! Awesome!!

It's good

The story is good, but beware it does end on a cliffhanger. Lenny, due to circumstances as a child, has some health problems and thus far no one has been able to see past that. That is until he meets Nathan. Nathan has scars of his own and a burning need to claim Lenny as his own, but Lenny knows nothing of the BDSM lifestyle and although Nathan is hesitant to show him, his passion over rules him.

Mine, Body and soul

Lenny is a sweet innocent virgin who has his own issues to deal with he isn't looking for anyone to love at his work but a friend of the owner of the restaurant he works for shows up and he is besotted from the moment he sees him. Nathan is an ex army man with scars and who hasn't had a truly intimate relationship with anyone since he came back from the war. These two damaged people both want each other but will their pasts allow them to form a real connection with someone else? A naive sweet boy and a dominant man who are both hurting but they both also have a chance at a happily ever after. This is a good introduction to someone who knows nothing about BDSM.

Great start!

I love Lenny and Nathan's story! They are just great characters and it great to see how these two start in their relationship. Now Matt Hatnes is a new narrator and I really like how he brings this story to life. I like how he did the voices and I can't wait to hear more from him.

So good!

I loved this first part to Lenny and Nathan's story! They are great characters and I became fully invested in how their story will play out. Add to that the wonderful narration and this story draws you in and has you ready for the next installment as soon as you're finished.
