Summary

Did you know that there is an orgasm gap of around 30 percent between heterosexual couples when they have sex?

In Mind the Gap, Dr Karen Gurney, a clinical psychologist and certified psychosexologist, explores not just this gap but the gaps in our knowledge of so much of the most important new science around sex and desire.

In this audiobook, you will learn that nearly everything that you've been led to believe about female sexuality isn't actually true. And that, despite what you might think, it is possible to simultaneously feel little to no spontaneous desire and have a happy and mutually satisfying sex life long term.

Exploring the mismatch between ideas about sex in our society and what the science tells us, Mind the Gap also explains how this disconnect lies at the root of many of our sexual problems.

Combining science with case studies, practical exercises and tips, this is an audiobook for anyone who wants to better understand the mechanics of desire and futureproof their sex life, for life.

An absolute must

This is the kind of books you wish you have read earlier in life. This is a book that every teenager, no matter gender, religion, nationality, should read. I am grateful I know all this now. It has changed me for the best.

So insightful

I found this book really comforting. There’s a lot in there that I didn’t know and I’m so glad that I now do. My partner is now listening.

Recommended by my doctor

This book is so insightful I feel every female should receive this book at a certain age. Wish I had it about 15 years ago!

It won’t rock your world. It’ll change your world.

This book has been written for women to read and develop. I am a man, who has listened and now reading this book. This book I believe should be read by all, learned by all and ultimately if you want happiness and fulfilment in a relationship. Should be read and shared by all.

Really useful but not that exciting

I’m really pleased I listened to this book as I learned a lot but I did also find it a bit boring. It’s still very much worth listening to as the information is valuable but it wasn’t as engaging as some other books.

A bought every young person should read at school

a great educational book that has shown how we think and feel about sex is very heavily influenced by society and the patriarchy. a great read and would recommend even if you're content with your sex life.

Such an important book

Whatever aspect of your sex life and sexuality you have struggled/are struggling with, I can’t recommend this work highly enough. I was in a damaging heterosexual relationship for nearly 2 decades and I am now happily married to a woman. The damage done previously does not (sadly) evaporate on its own, and Dr Karen’s careful unpicking of the social nonsense that surrounds sex was so refreshing and so helpful to me as I continue to heal.

A man who wants to understand his relationship to sex

I’ve been looking for insight into sex response but couldn’t find anything for men. When I started listening to this book I was worried that it was from a female perspective but decided to give it a go. So glad I did. It’s rewarded me in completely unexpected ways; given me a realisation of the script’s I’ve let myself be governed by, and insights into communication which have already improved my relationship to my beloved wife.

A great book for improving your sex life

Me and my wife both listened to this book. Written from a women's perspective, but equally useful for men as well.
