Summary

Now a Washington Post, Amazon most sold, and top 3 Amazon best seller.

From best-selling author L.J. Shen, comes a new, standalone, contemporary romance.

It should have been easy. I needed the money. He needed a babysitter to keep him from snorting himself to death. I was cherry-picked especially for him. Responsible. Optimistic. Warm. Innocent. The worst part is that I should have known better. Alex Winslow. British rock star. Serial heartbreaker. Casanova with whiskey eyes.

“Don’t get near the devil in a leather jacket. He’ll chew you up and spit you out.”

Guess what? I didn’t listen. I signed the contract. World tour. Three months. Four Continents. 100 shows. My name is Indigo Bellamy, and I sold my soul to a tattooed god. Problem was, my soul wasn’t enough for Alex Winslow. He ended up taking my body, too. Then he took my heart. Then he took my all.

Just wonderful!!!

This rendition of one of my favourite stories, has been a joy to listen to. Our flawed hero, Alex, rock star, pain in the behind and troubled hero, is voiced confidently, unrepentently and with absolute brilliance by Shane East. Muffy Newtown always delivers a warm and totally endearing performance, capturing Blue beautifully. The only tiny issue I have is the rendition of British accents ...I promise we do not all speak as if we are members of the royal family and attended Eton..especially if we are from Watford!
This rock star story is fun, warming, poignant, heartbreaking and has a twist which I didn't see coming. Indie is a complete delight in her beautiful innocence and strength. LJ Shen always writes a beautiful, tough book and Midnight Blue is no exception.

Wow !!!!!!!!!

Well I really didn’t like Alex he was so arrogant and selfish he really did annoy me for most of the book , then when they were in Paris oh I felt so sorry for him and I really hoped they got back together. Brilliant book and the narrators love them both .

Really liked it.

I liked this book. It was a slow starter for me, but once the chemistry between Indi and Alex kicked off, I got sucked in.
Great story which covered sensitive topics.

WOW.. ELEVEN TURBULENT HOURS OF PERFECTION

Every single time I finish a new L.J. Shen book I say “this has got to be her best yet”.. but then she goes and writes another awesome listen.. and once again I repeat my mantra of “blah blah... best yet”. However, this time I’m really really reeeeeally sure this is absolutely her best work to-date and I’m in awe of this seriously gifted author and the tornado of feels her words provoke.

LJS introduces you to her damaged yet emotionally vulnerable hero and heroine who come with emotional baggage.. and you listen with glee and awe as she slowly turns their sparks into flames. their animosity into friendship.. their polar opposite lifestyles into a powerful partnership.. and their ‘end date’ relationship into forever love. She sucks you into a multi-layered plot that you know will end in tears.. but what you’re absolutely not prepared for is the tragic heartbreaking wrench she throws in from nowhere that sends characters reeling. And, as she takes you on a whirlwind worldwide tour with an arrogant a$$hole of a bad-boy anti-hero and his entourage, your heart slowly melts for this sexy English Rock Legend as his feisty tiny blue-haired sobriety ‘babysitter’ brings out a very different side to him as their chemistry solders two hearts.. and two souls together.

I didn’t want to pause or stop listening to the tightly written push ‘n pull plot of two characters who need each other.. but for very different reasons. I didn’t want to stop the angsty barbed banter, the clipped humor and the dickish behaviour as the heated dialogue slowly broke down walls. I didn’t want to stop hearing about the damaged vs the sweet as their rollercoaster relationship clicked, climbed, picked up speed and eventually careened towards impending disaster. I didn’t want to stop the sizzles, the sparks and the flames as their sexual tension finally explodes. I didn’t want to stop the talented dual POV narration as it deliciously brought everything to life. Dirty talk, wicked intentions and casual carefree jibes precede and pave the way for some powerful heartfelt phrases, cherished words, romantic sentiments and passionate promises.

Worth a credit? Well I could go on.. and on.. and on about the many many outstanding virtues of this complex, multi-layered twisted yet beautiful, entertaining, touching and memorable love story.. so YES absolutely 100% creditworthy. Take the journey yourself and listen as a handsome, but bitter, Rock God battles his demons, tries to bed bend and break his sassy yet sweet babysitter and is determined to get his cheating ex back.. but Fate and Destiny have other plans..plans that’ll eventually lead to a beautiful HEA.

Just WOW

So I read/listen more than I care to admit, and lately I just haven’t been impressed. This book was perfect. Perfect narration - I just love these two narrators, and Shen’s story telling continues to impress. I have enjoyed other works, but this, by far evoked more emotion and surprise and I just hated to see the story end.

Outstanding! This is the first book that I’ve ever read by L.J Shen and I freaking loved it! The angst throughout the story was emotional and heartbreaking at times but the resolution was fantastic! Alex and Indigo proved that love was hard work but oh so worth it!!

Female narrator

I am not anywhere near being through this book, but I have loved all of LJ Shen’s books, as she is one of my favorite authors for many reasons, and am confident this book will live up to all of her other amazing work.

My premature review is due to my annoyance over the female narration; I see another listener mentioned it too. Muffy/Erin is very talented, and I HATE to be so critical, but I consistently cringe during every single one of many books I have heard her narrate because of her habit of drawing out or overly emphasizing the end of the word at the end of every phrase or sentence. “........the barrier” sounds like “barrierrrruh,” “....makes me smile” sounds like “makes me smiLuh,” “felt like it was full of cotton” sounded like “felt like it was full of cottonNuh.” When I saw another listener mention it, I just wanted to 2nd her opinion, if for nothing more than constructive criticism. (Though I am doubtful the narrator would ever read this). For me, her emphatic habit distracts me from the story, because it annoys me so much that I find myself listening for it instead of focusing on the story. Again, I hate to be so critical, as the narrator is clearly talented.

Seriously

First Alex is such an abusive A'hole. I usually root for his type of character but honestly by the end of the book I just wanted him to self destruct. I thought Indigo would have been a better character she started out having spunk eventually she spends the rest of the book letting Alex walk all over and abused her I've never met a character that love to be abused more than her. Based on all the great reviews I thought this would have been a much better book

that female narrator is pretty frustratingUH

I really enjoyed the story and both accents. but the American vocal habits of the female are very hard to ignore. every major phrase ending wordUH ends in an overdramatic soundUH like she is announcing a major motion pictureUH! that's my only critique tho.

Female Narrator Ruins It

I was looking forward to this as it's my kind of story, though it's trite and predictable, but acceptable for the romance genre. It seemed like it would be fun, even if the characters are a little silly and under-developed. But the female narrator, who manages to be both needlessly clipped and annoyingly sing-songy, makes this audiobook unlistenable. Had to return without completing.

Wasn't Expecting That

I only found 35% of the first 4-5 hours of this book to be relevant. It reminded me of a mother explaining something to her child. The author said the exact same thing 3 different ways just in case you weren’t paying attention enough to understand the importance of her point. And since I hated it when my mother did it I wasn’t too kin on having the experience put upon me again. However, the premise of the story had such potential. So, I just rolled my eyes and suffered through it. I wish I could say the middle was a vast improvement, but I can’t. It was only a half improvement. Therefore, imagine my shock when in the last 2 hours it took a sharp turn into interesting. But for me, it wasn't interesting enough to make up for the other 8 hours.
