Summary

From New York Times best-selling authors Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff comes an Illuminae prequel novella that gives listeners a hair-raising glimpse into the calamity that befell the invincible AI system known as AIDAN - and the daring young programmer who would risk her life to keep it from crashing.

AIDAN is the AI you'll love to hate.

The advanced AI system was supposed to protect a fleet of survivors who'd escaped the deadly attack on Kerenza IV. AIDAN was supposed to be infallible. But in the chaotic weeks and months that followed, it became clear that something was terribly, terribly wrong with AIDAN....

J&A Did It Again!

It's only 80-something pages and/or a 1.5 hour audiobook, and these authors really managed to get me overly invested in fictional characters YET AGAIN. Aidan is the worst, like really. The audacity this AI has really burns me up. Just so good. Jay and Amie need to continue writing novellas (or please, God, more full length books) in this series, because I will eat up any extra content they want to give. I love the audio, especially for this series. The full cast performances, as well as sound effects, really bring this series to life.

why?!

I forgot how much this writing duo hurts me. I may have to get the rest of the Illuminae Files on audible now because this was beautifully done. AIDEN is such a complex character. I love/hate him/it. Just wow.

Fantastic!

I have been robbed of words. I pre-ordered this and have no regrets. It’s not stand alone, but the full cast audio of the series made a fantastic experience and this was a novella worthy of the love I have for the rest of the series.

All-knowing. All-important. All-absolutely-amazing!

Holy s&@$! What an incredible addition to this already sensational series! I have a renewed abundance of respect for the incomparible partnership that is Kaufman and Kristoff. I absolutely adore prequels and the insight they can provide. And when it’s unexpected, it’s even more of a delight. Here’s where we learn why AIDAN is how it is, and yet the reader can still decide whom to believe. Just like the quote above, AI and the morality of it’s ever expanding role in our lives will continue to play on my mind.
