Summary

A balanced account of game changes, conflicts and ambitions. The fall from popular grace of the previously adulated brother of the heir to the British throne as a consequence of his marriage to a beautiful and dynamic Hollywood starlet of colour makes for fascinating listening in best-selling royal author Lady Colin Campbell's balanced account.

Lady Colin knows her royal history and psychology, and as the first seven years of her adult life were spent in the USA, she has a foot in both the American and British camps. With unique breadth of insight she goes behind the scenes, speaking to friends, relations, courtiers, and colleagues on both sides of the Atlantic to reveal the most unexpected royal story since the Abdication.

She highlights the dilemmas involved and the issues that lurk beneath the surface, as to why the couple decided to step down as senior royals. She analyses the implications of the actions of a young and ambitious couple in love with each other and with the empowering lure of fame and fortune.

She leads the listener through the maze of contradictions, revealing how Californian culture has influenced the couple's conduct. She exposes how they tried and failed to change the royal system by adapting it to their own needs and ambitions and, upon failing, how they decided to create a new system altogether.

If your a Megan and Harry fan you probably won’t like this book.
I found that the author has tried to be objective and look at both side of the picture.
A lot of rumours have been addressed in this book.
The fact that Lady Colin Campbell hasn’t been sued by the couple leads me to believe that a lot of it is true.
As a royal fan I enjoyed it. And it’s helped to make my own mind up about what the couple are really like.

Fairly objective view

This was an excellent read and I felt it wasn’t all about Meghan but a true reflection of them both. If you are interested in the subject it is a MUST READ

This was a fair analysis. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to it. So much of it rang true in retrospect. Much more real than the other NONSENSE written by Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand. Which I would give 0-stars if I could as a work of sheer fantasy!!

Well done Lady Colin Campbell 🙂

Great read in my view much closer to the truth !

it's always nice to have a unbiased insight into the lives of others, especially with the whole shambles of meghans introduction into royalty. I dont think she expected to have to abide by the strict rules and regulations of the brittiah Royal family she thought it was just another platform for fame but it was more difficult then she expected.

I don't know what to think about Meghan and Harry I think some of this book shines a terrible light on the English upper classes. It is apparently 'common' to wear gold on your bag during the day or wear a boat neck dress in a dark colour. Who cares?! Meghan is painted as a calculating money/status grabbing maniac. Can we trust these sources? I suppose this book will pay for your heating bill in your castle.
