Summary

Meghan Misunderstood is a pioneering book that sets the record straight on the most talked about, unfairly vilified and misrepresented woman in the world.

Meghan was 11 when she first advocated for women’s rights; a teenager when she worked in a soup kitchen feeding the homeless; a popular actress when she campaigned for clean water in Africa and passionately championed gender equality in a speech to a United Nations Women’s Conference. Even before she met Prince Harry, hers was an extraordinarily accomplished life. Meghan’s wedding to Harry was a joyful occasion, marking happiness at last for the Queen’s grandson who had captured our hearts 20 years earlier when he bravely walked behind his mother Diana’s coffin. Theirs was a story that the screenwriters of Hollywood – where Meghan had made her name – could scarcely have imagined.

The rom-com fantasy, however, soon turned into disturbing drama: any expectation of a life happily-ever-after was cruelly dashed by bullying tabloid newspapers and their allies, both on social media and within the walls of the Palace itself. Meghan was targeted for her gender, her race, her nationality and her profession. The abuse became so bad that 72 female MPs signed a letter of solidarity against the ‘often distasteful and misleading press’, calling out the ‘outdated colonial undertones’ of the stories. Now, Sean Smith, the UK’s leading celebrity biographer, pulls no punches as he reveals the remarkable and powerful story of this self-made, intelligent American woman with a strong social conscience who has made such an impact on our lives.

Fantastic n

I absolutely loved this book. The author clearly put a lot of research into this book. I would recommend this book as a story of a strong minded woman who is thriving.

Well Researched

👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾 Appreciate the authors effort to just researching and giving us the facts & not his opinion about Meghan’s life. She really is misunderstood & still can’t understand why anyone hates her.

Resilience for the under dog

The start was slow , but if you persevere it does give an insight as why this woman was so threatening to the British media. The men in grey suits Princess Diana spoke of were real. She is strong and resilient. It said a lot more about the hidden racism of the UK. I recognise the underhanded negative behaviours. She had the last laugh though, and the UK has lost out. Great read insightful.

Misunderstood Meghan

An interesting book that sets the record straight on the most unfairly vilified and misrepresented woman in the world. I don’t understand why the public have turned against her. She’s a compassionate and deep thinking woman, it shines through every word. I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it

Measured biography -

This a good listen for anyone seeking an antidote to the hysterical hate mobs that prey on Meghan.

Sean Smith takes the listener through Meghan’s early years as a struggling actor, to her torrid time at the hands of the British Media.

He paints a picture of an ambitious, focused woman, who never quit in the pursuit of her goals. Her humanitarian work is well documented- but I was most inspired by learning about her resilience.

I’d question elements of the research. Did Meghan really have a drink with a certain ex GMB presenter? Or did she meet him on a press junket? There are no photos of the alleged encounter. And no witnesses have corroborated the story.

I feel the book needs a sequel- where he fact checks the claims of the British media. Otherwise- it was a good listen, albeit awful to hear what Meghan has endured.

Wish more of the general public would read this before commenting or posting about Meghan Markle

A breath of fresh air — in terms of honesty — from someone in the media. So glad a white male journalist took the time and effort to put this book together.
