Story
Fun is the one thing Elsie Webb takes seriously. Though she'd be having a lot more of it if Haelstrom Media paid her enough to actually get out of debt. She's determined to hold out on contract negotiations for her kids' television show Fangley Heights until she gets what she deserves. There's only one problem, the head of the network just died and left her future more uncertain than ever. Forty-eight hours and one funeral—that's all Jones Haelstrom has to get through before she can return to her life in LA that's as ordered and sparse as an IKEA showroom.

Funny, sweet and romantic!
I really loved Media Darling! The plot, the characters and the writing are engaging and real, despite the Hollywood setting! It’s funny and sexy and simply put everything you could want from a celebrity romance.
I think this is my favourite Lori Prince narration to date. Her comic timing is genius, she brings the emotional scenes to life with sensitivity and the steamy scenes are hot, hot, hot.

Love in the spotlight
I really enjoyed this book it was a lovely romantic love story, you root for the two main characters to have a happily ever after.
It had bits in the book which made me laugh. The story was well written and well narrated.
The only negative for me was the ending; I am not saying the ending wasn’t a good one and I love happy endings which it was. But to me it felt rushed and it just ended and didn’t finish the story for me and left me feeling is that it, and me checking to see if there is a book 2. But maybe the author has a book two planned with their story carrying on. I hope she does cause I feel like the story can carry on and I would buy book 2.

great story, great narration!
Great story....great character development and intensely written love scenes. THANK YOU Ms. Riley for "spelling out" love scenes. Some authors leave love scenes to the listeners imagination. This is lesbian romance for crying out loud! We want to be led! On an equally important note....anyone who doesn't adore Lori Prince needs their head examined. She gives amazing depth to characters and is the only narrator I know brave enough to give love-making scenes the passion and intensity needed to make your stomach jump and make you almost drive off the road. This is a great book. Buy it. The end.

I loved Media Darling. Great story. Loved Hayley and Emerson. I hate the fact that the media hounds them. Now I feel justified in not paying any attention to gossip shows or gossip rags. If people stopped supporting gossip writers and photographers. The world would be a better place. Lori Prince does an excellent job with the narration.

Emerson is my favorite character in anything ever.
I recently just started reading lesbian romance books on a whim. I’m 32, I’ve loved and lost the two loves of my life and despite having completely given up on the thought of finding love, I’m still a believer. The biggest. In this time of non-monogamists and polyamory people I feel so lonely in my little romantic bubble. I got an alert from audible I had 2 credits to burn before I shut my account off and I downloaded two of the lesbian audio books on here with high praise thrown at the narrators. This book is literally the second romance novel I’ve read in my entire life. Second girl on girl romance novel. I’m absolutely a sucker for them now. On to this book.
First point is the narrator. Her voice is extremely sexy to me. I love that girly raspy voice. The way she speaks as the character of Emerson, it was incredible to me. Super sexy. It brings soul to the character. The very very very easy to love character. I’m not going into details but I cannot remember seeing/reading/hearing about such a soulful, amazing, romantic and captivating character. I love her. I wish she was real. Whenever the book switches back to Haileys character point of view, I freakin missed her. How lame right? Take the celebrity part out and this character is definitely a dream girl type. Perfection. I hope to find a person similar to her, one who is so in touch with her feelings despite everything, not afraid of love, going after it, and fighting for it.
The authors description of the MANY sex scenes were very accurate, you can really imagine a time you made love to someone who set your soul on fire at the time and feel like the author was describing it to the T.
Hailey is okay, the ending definitely dragged on unnecessarily, which didn’t bother me because I loved the characters. But it was obvious to me that it was being dragged out. Her voice as the gay dude is hilarious.
Anyway sorry I rambled, this book is entertaining, funny, super sexy

What a treat!
I’m a sucker for a well-written Hollywood celebrity romance. “Breaking Character” by Lee Winter is one of my all-time favorite books (and audiobooks). No other Hollywood-based romance has approached the heights of BC for me - until this one. I can’t say “Media Darling” is as good as BC, but it’s in the same league. And honestly, it’s not fair to compare them because “Media Darling” is really its own animal. It’s very “today” - the dialogue, the characters, the tone, the accurate reflection of being a twenty-something celebrity in the social media age. This is a book about two Millennial MC’s that actually reads like it was written by a Millennial (which isn’t always the case with many lesfics I’ve read). Emerson and Hayley are really sweet together, and I can’t express my gratitude that the obstacles that threaten their relationship are actually extremely realistic given their circumstances, rather than over-hyped drama manufactured by two adults who can’t communicate like adults (another evil of the romance genre). And did I mention this book is FUNNY? There were times I literally laughed out loud reading (the Fabulous gay best friend is fantastically deadpan and insulting and so well voiced by Lori Prince). And speaking of Lori Prince, she is amazing as always. A couple of times she seemed to slip up with Hayley and Emerson’s voices, making it too hard to figure out which of them was talking, but for the most part she gave the emotional, insightful and funny performance you can always rely on from her. This one was 100% worth the credit. I’ll be looking for more from this author.

Nice listen
This was an enjoyable listen, no regrets. 4’s because it wasn’t amazing. There was some weak points, one with the story line where I felt it didn’t make sense, two some dialogue that was distracting. Example: character one says something, couple of sentences pass, character two “realizes” the thing character one said like they never said it. You don’t realize something that someone just told you. Minor but distracting as I started thinking about the writing process and how the second readers missed that.

Fantastic writing and narration
Media Darling is one of my favorite reads so far. Fiona Riley’s development of the characters along with Lori Prince’s narration makes the reader visualize the story instead of simply listening to it. It’s amazing how the narrator can set the tone. I mean Lori Prince could read me the back of a shampoo bottle and I think I would be hooked.
I cannot tell you how many times I have sampled a book and then declined purchasing it due to not enjoying the voice of the narrator. Job well done ladies.
