Summary

Sometimes the next best thing is what you’ve been looking for all along….

Beth Chandler has spent her whole life pleasing others. She went to law school to make her grandparents happy. She agreed to marry her workaholic boyfriend, Lucas, to make him happy. And, despite her fear of boats, she took a ferry to see Lucas’s parents just to make them happy.

While suffering through a panic attack on the ferry, Beth meets a tall, sexy stranger who talks her down from her fear - and makes her heart flutter in the process. Soon, she has a new reason to panic: her gorgeous, blue-eyed rescuer is Lucas’s brother, Joe. But could she ever leave her fiancé for his own brother…even if Lucas is more focused on making partner than on making their relationship work…and even if Joe turns out to be everything she never knew she wanted?

1 st book on a series

read the second one first and it was really good. bit surprised to read some of the same bits in both books. Will read the 3rd one now, to see if she uses the same parts again.

Being fully alive!

As this story concludes, the song lyrics: ..."Learning to love yourself is the greatest love of all" come to mind. A beautiful story in a beautiful setting with a mix of people who want to enjoy the beauty of life and deep human connections, while interacting with those who haven't yet discovered that vision of life.
Love the idea that sometimes life can get messy on the way to wonderful. Just cherish the gifts, be true to yourself, be as kind as you can - and let the rest take care of itself. A relationship that gives both people room to be themselves is of the essence. This story is about being fully alive. You'll be glad you spent some time here!

Light and Believeable

Enjoyed this very real depiction of year round Island living. Interesting characters facing believable obstacles in life and love.

Narrator ruined this book

Would you try another book from Terri Osburn and/or Amy Rubinate?

Terri Osburn - yes, if it was narrated by someone else.

How could the performance have been better?

I actually thought it was Siri from the iPhone at first... and then assumed it was a computer program. I don't even know how the narrator gets her voice to sound so monotone and computer-like! I couldn't get past it - the only reason I was able to finish the book is because I really liked the story. From now on, I'll ALWAYS play the audio sample before I purchase.

Happy

Just the kind of mindless romance to keep me occupied without a lot of sex descriptions or vulgarity...fairly mild...enjoyable...just what I need right now...

A Donut of a Romance

Like having a donut instead of whole grain toast for breakfast, sometimes it's fun listening to a light hearted (but not mind-numbing) romantic drama. Yes, some things were obvious from the beginning and the end was not a huge surprise. However the island setting, humor, and a variety of supporting characters including a lovable dog made "Meant to Be" an enjoyable escape from reality.

great to spend the weekend

Meant to be was a good read, it was a good book to spend time with, the characters were good and the story had many things that made this book even more enjoyable.

Elizabeth was a good heroine, she was kind and was always looking to help and make people feel better sometimes even if that means sacrificing her own happiness. Beth had her life figure until things came crashing down showing her that nothing was set in stone, that life will not let her make that mistake before she finally faces her own demons.

Joe didn't want anything at all, he wasn't looking to find someone, he was only up for his work, his dog and family but nothing had prepared him to meet his brother's fiance, a woman who will teste him at every turn and will make him change his life and mind forever.

The narrations by Amy Rubinate were great giving so much more to the characters and the story, I really like what she did.

so many things to say about Meant to be but I don't want to spoil anything so get ready to feel and fall in love with this story.
