Summary
An award-winning sci-fi comedy about a nerdy teen who tumbles through the multiverse.
It's spring break and Max is stuck at home all by himself. Just the way he likes it. He games online, feasts on junk, and wonders why his cat can suddenly talk.
Thanks to a bizarre mishap, Max has started shifting between parallel universes whenever he falls asleep. A curious affliction, and one that steadily erodes his sanity. Day after day, he awakes to a strange new reality and struggles to make sense of his surroundings.
But then one day he awakes to a hyper-advanced version of Earth where humans have colonized space. Determined to fulfill a lifelong dream, Max and his cyborg cat venture into the black, only to entangle themselves in an intergalactic conflict.

Wry sci-fi delight
Max and the Multiverse is one of my faves, and Hannibal Hills brought the characters to life. Max himself is a bit of a dolt, a fun juxtaposition to his smart, snarky space companions. I’ve long wanted to see this series adapted into an animated series. In the meantime, I’ll enjoy the audiobook!

A delightful and hilarious adaptation
I was already a big fan of the Max and the Multiverse series, so listening to the audiobook was a no-brainer. Hannibal Hills does a fantastic job in bringing these zany characters to life. Ross is hysterical, Max is pitifully adorable, and Zoey and Perra continue to kick some serious butt. And of course there's Lord Essien, everyone's favorite psycho villain, who Hills inhabits with hissing glee. I loved hearing all the witty interactions, especially at the mining planet. This is a delightful and hilarious adaptation. An easy recommendation to any fan of humorous science fiction.

A fresh new take on the genre!
I loved this unique story and the performance was so energetic! It's a fun, funny, and clever romp - a good time all around. If you need an upbeat book with well shaped characters and a talented voice that captures them beautifully, take this trip along with Max and Ross!

Amusing SciFi Action Thriller
I enjoyed this story. It was fun, humorous, and action filled. Once the audiobook started, I had to listen until the end, just to find out what would happen. The author wrote this in such a way that I started to experience the character's uncertainty as to what life would bring each day. The story really captured my attention once Max and his cat left earth. The cat was my favorite character, and I enjoyed his snarky comments. Hannibal Hills' narration was great, and his performance enhanced the story's entertainment. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.

Excellent Listen
Adventurous, humorous, and many throwbacks to other sci-fi works. I recently watched Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, and Max and the Multiverse felt in the same vein.
Max is a bit of a bumbling idiot who is thrown into a grand adventure full of surprises. I really enjoyed him figuring his new situation out. Really love the cat, Ross. The narrator, Hannibal Hills, seemed to connect with him the most. Added on to Ross' sarcasm that made him my favorite character.
Excellent reading, Hills brought out the author's quirkiness and genuinely seemed like he also enjoyed the story. Made for a very fun listen.

a new day a new universe
If you're looking for something completely different, might I suggest Max and the Multiverse. Each day when Max wakes up he's in an alternate universe. Throw in his talking cat and as you might imagine this leads to some truly outrageous adventures, I can definitely see why some say it has a Douglas Adam's vibe. If you are a fan of humorous sci-fi then I definitely recommend checking this one out. I'll definitely be checking out the next book in the series. As for the audio narration, Hannibal Hills is excellent as always.

Great to hear these nutty characters!
I greatly enjoyed reading the books and following this crazy story, so getting to hear it narrated was a special treat. Hills provides a wonderful voice for this series. I loved the listen and look forward to the next.

Different
Favorite character was Ross then Max (a real nerd). Too many dimensions, confusing at times, just not my cup of tea of sci-fi. Kept listening due to the narration and funny at times.

Unlikeable
This title didn't meet my preference for stories with deep characters, interesting worlds, or developed plots. I could only think "this is a boring version of that show sliders from the 1990s". The character Max is portrayed as someone who doesn't have any self determination or positive character traits. As there are no alternate characters which appear to be central to the story I can't see myself spending any further time with this content.
