Story
Yesterday I was a teenager waiting tables in Manhattan, and today, monsters exist and I can see them. Overnight I’m thrown into the realm of the Watchers, a society of earthbound angels split into two factions: the Shades, whose powerful dark magic is given to them by the fallen angels, and the Lumens, whose abilities are bestowed on them by the archangels of Avalon. They’re on opposite sides of a brutal war, and I only have a few days to pick which side I want to join. I’m ready to choose when the Shades force my hand by cursing someone I love.

Since I was born, I was destined to be one thing - the Alpha’s mate. It should be every girl’s dream. Not mine, though. He’s too dark and damaged, and I’ve got a secret he can never know: I’m not a true wolf. Instead of waiting for him to figure out that I’m an abomination, I left on my 15th birthday. But I didn’t go far. No way in hell would I let him drive me from the town I love. Ten years later, I’m still hiding in plain sight. When I occasionally see him on the street - deadly, sexy, powerful - I just walk by. Keep my head down. Until that night.

After I challenged the Blood Council's four shifter heirs at a college party, the last thing I expected was to receive a full scholarship and an admittance letter from the exclusive Wolf Moon Academy. Despite never desiring to be an alpha, this was an opportunity of a lifetime...or so I thought. I soon learned that there was more behind my admission to the Academy than my education. I was there to be a lesson to the heirs - in particular, the sexiest and strongest one, Liam Hale.

Not bad but
This story could have been better with a little more thought but on the whole it’s good.
What really put me of was the terrible narration of Dara Rosenberg. If she was reading to children it would be ok but certainly not for adult books very insipid. Shame I would have liked to get the other books in the series.

Decent Paranormal Read
This read had a good mix of different paranormal beings and a lot of potential. I loved the premise, it's different and kept me interested but there were some aspects that kept me from really loving the book.
*Instant Love
*little chemistry between main couple
*heroine was relatable i.e constantly getting a new power which seemed to be exactly what she needed to move past each obstacle???
I would have preferred more development of characters but still found it engaging.
It's definitely more of a YA read, as opposed to more mature audience and could be a good series, one I will probably continue to see how the next book pans out.

Interesting and new look on the werewolf/vampire
I enjoyed this story, just took me longer to get into it.
I've loved other Leia Stone books but this on felt a little different than the others. Maybe because it was the first.
The narrator is easy to listen to and has a unique way of speaking.

I love this book and the audiobook is just as good. Leia Stone writes a fabulous story with unique characters that draw you in until the end. Dara Rosenberg does a fantastic job putting her own flare to each character as she narrates. It really does bring the book to life to hear someone read it. Everything plus the kitchen sink
Holy moly what is going on with this story? It’s like sprinting a quadrathlon on a jet pack while listening to a guide to morality.
I couldn’t finish it. I spent most of my time eye rolling as the main female character continued to be revealed to be one amazing thing after the other, I lost track of all the ways the author made her special. The character didn’t earn any of these talents but seemed to be chosen as the epicentre of the supernatural universe! It was so exasperating.
Spoiler alert
-
-
-
-
-
The girl is the most rare thing on earth...cue the eye roll...
-
-
-
First she’s special because she survived the change, then she’s second in command, then she’s the alpha’s mate, then she’s immune to silver, then she’s a matefinder, then she finds out she’s adopted and is actually the rare product of a werewolf/witch hybrid, then she’s a future seer, she’s a lethal wolf who beheads super fast, then she can save the werewolf species and then she apparently can make female vampires fertile....I mean are you serious?!!! And the entire time she’s cool with it all. Like, yup..ok, I’m a werewolf, yup ok I’m a badass, ok cool I’m part witch, ohhhh did you say I am a seer too, cool. Wtf?!
The book moves so fast and with such forced empty action that it has zero substance.
The writing is poor. A half decent editor would have helped a lot with word repetition, sentence structure and dialogue. It was so stiff.
I also don’t need to be reminded every few minutes that she’s a vegetarian and that it makes her special. I don’t eat meat but I don’t think just because my friends do that somehow killing a person is easier for them, which is what the character implies.
Ugh I’m so done with this book and it’s nonsense. There is no heat, no drama, no significant character development, it’s all superficial and forgettable.

I was a little worried at first because it seemed like instalove, which I hate, and I almost stopped reading but I am so glad that I didn't. The instalove makes sense and, believe me, they still have issues to work out so it's not 100% perfect lovey dovey all the time.

Great premise; terrible execution
I’ve never written a review before but after reading all the positive reviews I found myself suffering through this entire book. Thanks a lot reviews!
The Matefinder Concept was a nice new possibility in a world of werewolves that is starting to feel like we have read it all lately. To my disappointment the the execution by the author was terrible; in one chapter she is magically ok with nearly dying and becoming a werewolf and taking her place as a dominant in a pack. ONE CHAPTER. The narrator isn’t the worst but if your looking for inflections or a differentiation between characters she has some significant work to do. I now find myself going to purchase some of the terribly reviewed books I had interest in because the audible community gave this such high ratings that there must be confusion on what it means to get 1 vs 5 stars.

Promising
I read this book some time ago before I listened to it. It's refreshing to hear the story on audio. However, just like when I was reading it.. it felt like it something was amiss. It is instalove but it wasn't HEA from chapter 1. They had struggles. It just felt like it's missing something I can't pinpoint specifically. Perhaps a deeper character development? I know this is YA so maybe I'm just used to more NA stories or adult paranormal romance and this one is more catered to YA. It was still a good listen though. =)

It had potential
I want to begin this with an analogy. If writing books was like being a sculpture, using fine tool to chisel details, as a sculpture this author used a club to try and beat the marble into something she wanted.
The main problem with this book is the lack of detail, it feels like a 12 year old wrote it. Very general details are given without any of the minor details that you need to bring the book to life.
Another problem is the lack of character development. I found my self laughing, rolling my eyes, or just down right horrified at how hollow and uninteresting everything was. Not only does the author fail to flesh out the main charcter, she just makes her an automatic badass leaving me feeling disconnected. The detail in the fighting, traveling, and overall interaction between characters is so short that if you don't pay attention for a few seconds your completely lost.
The way some of the characters feel and express themselves sounds absolutely reddiculous, not to mention that Kia, or whatever his name was, was scared for the first time several times. This book almost feels like the author went in without a plan and contradicts herself so many times.
The story progression is horrifying things that, in any other well written book, were nearly shrugged off because it was delivered so poorly. I stopped and started this book at least 10 times before finally giving up.

Simply Amazing !!!!
This book is by far one of the best I have ever read. It has Action/Romance/Werewolf's/Witches/ Vampires and a amazing plot. The characters are so well described that you feel their pain, joy and all their emotions. The narrator did a good job but she didn't get the male voices right. A dual narrative would have made it perfect . I highly recommend this book and can't wait for the next.
