Story: A very enjoyable story of two football jocks at different crossroads in their life. The development of the story was really good and relatable. With very good writing (as usual for DJ Jamison), it's a very good addition to the series.
Narration: Nick J. Russo (as usual for him) did a great job. The performance enhances the story without dominating it.

I always find with audiobooks where I have read the book it makes me either love it more or doesn’t change m feelings towards it, this one surprised me at how much more I loved it. When i read it the first time i enjoyed the characters and the storyline but it just didn’t go much further. But hearing the story, with the narrator giving them their personalities and feelings well it transformed the story for me to one that I never wanted to end. Brilliant work with the novel and the narrator just pushed it that step further.

Simon and Parker start on the worst possible terms, at least from Simon’s perspective. He truly hates Parker with a passion and blames him for everything wrong in his life. The steps that bring them closer and finally together are very gradual and come not only from Parker’s willingness to make things right, but also from anonymous chats on a hook-up app, where the two rivals, both secretly into men, connect without knowing who the other is.
The book is very sweet and romantic, but also funny with the banter going on between the two ex-rivals. It’s also super steamy as the two of them could melt ice together. I loved the writing and the pace, it’s not too hurried, but doesn’t drag either. And the level of angst is quite contained, despite the book starting with Simon punching Parker in the face!

Matched by My Rival is the second book in the Thrust Into Love series, and although it can easily be read on it's own, I highly suggest reading the first book in the series before this one. Simon was one of the secondary characters in the first book, and I'm so glad he got his own story - he really deserved it. Simon was under intense pressure to excel on the football field, but Parker, his teammate and rival, was always showing him up...until an impulsive decision gets Simon kicked off the football team. Now that he's no longer on the team, Simon must find out who he is off the field...including in his love life. Parker knows who he is, but he isn't sure football is where his heart is. But a chance encounter on the Thrust dating app puts everything into perspective for these two young men.

I loved, loved, loved this story. Both Simon and Parker were fascinating and interesting characters, and I really liked that it wasn't the typical sports romance. There was so much more to Simon and Parker than just football, and the effort they put into figuring themselves out and working through their issues really added depth to the plot.

Nick J. Russo does another incredible job with his narration of this audiobook. The audio performance was outstanding and really brought the characters to life. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and I'm excited for the next book in the series.

But this narrator has made me love an already very enjoyable story even more!
He really brings the characters to life and acts the story out for us. Very entertaining. Great fun. (I’m looking forward to the next two books...fingers crossed!)
