About this listen
Peter Parker is caught in a complicated web. Working in a cutting-edge laboratory, he's a young scientist who's trying to make a difference. Yet he's constantly burdened by the responsibilities of his second career as the crime-fighting Spider-Man.
Wilson Fisk - the so-called Kingpin of Crime - has returned to New York, establishing himself publicly as an altruistic entrepreneur and philanthropist. Spider-Man knows better, but he can't uncover Fisk's scheme, which, if executed, will make the crime lord too big to fail.
When a new threat - a deadly doppelganger with Spider-Man's suit and abilities - wreaks havoc in the streets, can the real wall-crawler prove his innocence? With the clock ticking and lives on the line, can Spider-Man stop the brutal rampage of the Blood Spider? Will Spider-Man fall to his fears and foes, or will he rise and be greater?
©2018 Marvel and David Liss (P)2021 MarvelI played the game back when it came out, and am replaying it now after listening to this prequel book, in anticipation of the new game coming out soon.

Another thing that bothers me a tad is Norman talking about Harry's "trip" and acting like he should be doing something more important? He knows his son is going for this special treatment right?? why is he acting like it's an actual teen holiday? was it just an act for Peter? if so it probably should have been clarified, an extra scene from Harry's perspective just before he went for treatment would probably have been a good idea.
The cameo from Jefferson was cute but I feel like it would have been mentioned in game if Jeff had met spiderman once before, just a nitpick tho.
last thing is that I feel like fisk would have tried to out Osborn's secrets if he still had that devil's breath file on him, maybe he just felt like it wasn't enough proof but It still seems fisk would have tried to destroy Osborn after this stuff he pulls in this book. feels like that should have been touched on more.
Overall it was still a fun book, these were all little complaints I had that I felt like should have been explained better but by no means ruins the story. had a blast listening to this and I can't wait to check out the Miles Morales prequel book next!
pretty good but has some strange moments

Good narration

The pacing is great, and so is the character development - having the narrative from the perspective of multiple characters was a great way to break it up and at no point did the story feel flat.
Overall, really enjoyed it.
Fun, action-packed and a light read
