Story
In "Coventry's Christmas", Rebecca Hagan Lee offers a charming new story. With Christmas approaching, Amabel Thurston is ordered from the family home by her father's widow and must seek the protection of her guardian, Deverel Brookfield, eighth Marquess of Coventry. Unfortunately, the Devil of Coventry has little use for Christmas and even less for proper young ladies.
Summary
Major Calborne Rutherford returns to England on the trail of an assassin, only to find he's become Lord Ashendon, with the responsibility for vast estates and dependent relatives. Cal can command the toughest of men, but his wild half-sisters are quite another matter. They might just be his undoing.
When he discovers that Miss Emmaline Westwood, the girls' former teacher, guides them with ease, Cal offers her a marriage of convenience. But strong-minded and independent Emm is neither as compliant nor as proper as he expected, and Cal finds himself most inconveniently seduced by his convenient wife.
Emm knows they didn't marry for love, yet beneath her husband's austere facade, she catches glimpses of a man who takes her breath away. As pride, duty, and passion clash, will these two stubborn hearts find more than they ever dreamed of?

A plot of twists and humour, a good story
The story is fun, a typical quality romance from Gracie.
I read this story some years ago, and was rather disappointed in the readers voice.it seemed almost robotic, hesitant, the voice lacked flow where it was needed. Sounding more like the speaking clock than an actor.

Worst narrator ever, can’t get past first two chapters
I’m sorry but I can’t listen to this book anymore due to the narrator. I know we should be happy that people are willing to do the narration, but not when it is completely ruins a good book to the point that you have to stop after a couple of chapters.

Shame about the narration
I really wanted to listen to the first book in series and have happily enjoyed the other stories & where they go from here. It took 4 attempts to listen to this book. The narration is off putting and robotic and some of the pronunciation is very strange indeed! Enjoyed the story, have it re-recorded please

Ruined by the robotic narrator.
What disappointed you about Marry in Haste?
I couldn't even begin to appreciate the book. I enjoyed Anne Gracie's previous books but the narrator was so terrible that I couldn't even listen for an hour.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
No need to change the story if there had been a better narrator.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Charlotte Anne Dore?
Susan Duerden, Simon Prebble, Alex Wyndham, Kate Redding.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
The reason I gave it 3 stars was due to the narrator.
Any additional comments?
I read the poor reviews of the narrator before purchasing but gave her the benefit of the doubt only because of Audible's return policy.

Wonderful story, narration is not as good
I love Anne Gracie! This story definitely has her signature wonderful dialogs and witty banter. I really enjoyed the story. A special bonus was getting to see the proprietress of the House of Chance once again! I think this would have been a full 5 star listen if the same narrator who narrated the Chance sisters had narrated this one.

Couldn't listen to this horrible narration
I don't actually know if this story is any good or not. I returned the audible book after listening to about 30 minutes which was all I could stand of this horrible narrator. Her fake British accent is so uncomfortable that it set my teeth on edge! It reminded me of my 2nd year French students trying to stumble through reading a text. It's sad, too, because Anne Gracie's stories are always fun and enjoyable but this is one that I'll have to enjoy in the print version!

Mechanical narration
I am not sure if this was edited and that why it was so mechanical or if it was just a poor narration. The story was good, the
author packed a lot in the first book of the series. There was nothing hasty about the story development. But the narration was mechanical and SLOW. I had to put it on 1.25 to get through it. I made it half way and then found the book online at my library to finish. It was worth finishing.
