About this listen

Long distance running is much like any other fitness training. If you want to improve, you need a good plan that has a progressive nature. If you are new to this game, you need a solid foundation to build on. Having a running program is not the only thing that you need. Sound advice and running tips should be taken from someone who has "walked the walk", or in this case, "ran the run".

Hi, my name is James Atkinson from jimshealthandmuscle.com. I'm a qualified fitness coach and personal trainer and I have a fair bit of running advice that I would like to share with you. When I was around 18 years old, I was a terrible runner! In fact, I failed the basic fitness test for army entrance on running alone, and I failed big time! Several years later, I was clearing 1.5 mile running circuits in eight minutes and 22 seconds and could easily run a marathon any day of the week! I would like to share my knowledge and training experiences with you.

If you are a beginner when it comes to running, this information will no doubt give you advice that will probably not have even crossed your mind before. If you are already a runner and are looking to make more progression, you are also in the right place. I know that it is easy to get stuck on a training plateau, so I have also added some information and training methods to this book that will help you leave the plateau behind.

Enjoyed the stories and the tips. Being an injured ex soldier myself, I took up running to lose weight just over 4 years ago after ballooning to over 25st. Lost over 170lbs all thanks to the challenges that running can give you. Knowing how to avoid some of the pitfalls and getting good training tips stops those unnecessary injuries can only be a good thing. Soak up the knowledge this book gives you and you will succeed in your running dreams.

I’m a lorry driver by trade and as everybody knows we are not the fittest of people as a rule.
I looked for a book on running tips and training ideas to help motivate me and give me direction and I do feel that I don’t that from this book. I’m in week three of the training plan and actually feel good and injury free and would recommend this book. I have a long road ahead of me and I do feel like this book has helped.
The only thing I would say lets this book down is that there is nothing about warm ups or cooling down from runs. And it just makes for a good read if nothing else.

A good motivational and funny read.

Short, useful and to the point book, no wasted words. I've been running for 6months and read a lot about running online and listened to several audiobooks. Still - was able to pick up new info to help with my running progression. Narrator is wonderful!

useful and interesting
