Summary

Love makes men do desperate things - if desperate things means opening a rival cupcake shop to drive your ex-girlfriend crazy.

Twin brothers and air force vets Tanner and Garrett Mann return from deployment to find their thriving business burned to the ground. Time for plan B: move back to their hometown of Beach Pointe to start over.

But that means running into Paige and Morgan Baxter: gorgeous, curvy, and owners of Two Sisters Cupcakes.

There's an old diner for sale across town, Garrett's a great cook, and Tanner has an idea. They'll make savory cupcakes that men would like. We're talking bacon and Cheez Whiz. Even better? They'll call it Mann Cakes. Problem is, they end up attracting an unexpected crowd.

Paige is furious. Every man in her life has left her behind, including Tanner. She's sacrificed everything for her shop. She won't lose it over some egotistical ex-boyfriend, even if he does have an air force-chiseled body. Her younger sister, Morgan, isn't helping matters. She's been gaga over Garrett since high school.

"To hell with that. If it's a fight Tanner wants, it's a fight he'll get." But how much is Paige willing to risk to win a cupcake war?

For fans of sweet, sexy romantic comedy in the same vein as Janet Evanovich, Lauren Blakely, Kylie Gilmore, and Louisa Edwards. Bonus Mann Cakes recipe included!

Bake me a roMANce

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this book to someone looking for a light romantic comedy. There is a little drama in it and some mystery but overall it's a pretty light comedy.

What did you like best about this story?

I loved the realistic sides of the story...listening to the teasing between Paige and Garrett you could tell there was still feelings between them that was unresolved and it reminds you of "those friends" we all know from some point in our lives.

What about Addison Spear’s performance did you like?

This was my first performance by Addison Spear and I really enjoyed listening to her. She did a good job with changing her tone and voice for different characters and her pace was perfect. I would recommend her for other books and wouldn't hesitate to buy another book of hers.

I loved it!

Humor, romance, and steam are great words to describe this book. I really enjoyed this book with the unexpected twists. My review is not a synopsis of the book, but rather my opinion of it. I thought both the author and narrator were very talented and would listen to more books by them. I was given this book and have voluntarily written this review.

Yummy In So Many Ways!

After twin brothers Tanner and Garrett Mann return from deployment to find their computer business burnt to the ground, they decide to return home to Pointe Beach and start over again. Except this time, they rent an old diner and open a savory cupcake shop, an alternative to all the overly sweet bakeries in the area. The last thing they expect is to find the Baxter sisters as their new rivals.

Paige and Morgan Baxter have their own past with the Mann brothers to deal with. Paige lost her heart to Tanner in high school, and after they broke up she found him with her best friend. And Morgan has always liked gentle Garrett, but was too shy to make a move. Now their business is threatened by the new cupcake shop, and they can't avoid the Mann brothers forever. When Paige and Tanner finally meet, they declare war.

This was a fun steamy read, yummy in so many ways! I loved the descriptions of the food and baking, and spent a lot of the time munching while listening. It was a cute plot with a bit of intrigue and mystery near the end.

The characters were interesting, and the story was told from all four characters point of view, just the way I like. Morgan and Garrett were perfect together. Garrett was adorably shy, and Morgan surprised him over and over with how bold she was now. Paige and Tanner's relationship was more difficult. Between Tanner's ego and Paige's trust issues, they had a lot to work through.

The narration was well done, Addison Spear performed different voices for each female character, and her pace and tone were great. Her narration didn't intrude on the story and really immersed me in it. I received a copy of the audiobook, and I'm voluntarily leaving a review.

Cute MANNLEY Romance – Great Fun Enjoy🍮🍮

What made the experience of listening to Mann Cakes the most enjoyable?

Addison Spear''s performance is what made listening to MAN CAKES most enjoyable.. Spear's performance clear portrayal of Misti Parker's characters in a way that made it easier for me to imagine them.

What did you like best about this story?

I enjoyed the banter between Tanner and Paige. Tanner really knows how to get under your skin.

I also thought that the play on Tanner and Garrett's last name was clever.

What about Addison Spear’s performance did you like?

Please see above.

Any additional comments?

Misti Parker and Addison Spear are both new to me, author and performer, respectively.

Parker writes a light hearted romance that touches on some pretty tough subjects, including autism, patriotism, entrepreneurism, etc. man cakes is in its perfect category – romantic comedy. It was really fun to listen to..

I will look for books written by Misty Parker in the future. The same goes for books narrated by Addison Spear.

*I was given a copy of this book in exchange for my unbiased review. I have reviewed a lot of books. Fortunately, most fall into the category of MANN CAKES – really good.. However, I have come across books that are meh or bad. It pains me to write those reviews, but it is important to let potential listeners know my thoughts and opinion WITHOUT SPOILERS.

If you found my review helpful, would you take a moment and select – yes – at the conclusion of this review? I also invite you to follow me on Audible. Many thanks!🍮

Way Too Young......

Story line and main characters didn't jive. Characters were presented as 24 yr olds who were way too young to be as tough and experienced as author intended. Not a fan of this book and don't recommend.

Cupcake war...because...exes!

Former Air Force, business partners and twin brothers, Tanner and Garrett Mann are back in hometown Beach Pointe, KY...under a cloud of suspicion. Their prior business, a computer company, in Louisville, had been burned and their business manager killed. The cause was arson but both police & insurance suspect that the brothers were responsible...never mind that they were deployed in Afghanistan at the time. Now the brothers are home trying to pick up the pieces. Fortunately for them, the local diner had closed and was on the market. Tanner convinces Garrett, the cook & baker of the duo, that they should buy the place and open a cupcake shop unlike the current one owned by sisters Paige & Morgan Baxter. The new shop, Mann Cakes, will provide cupcakes with bacon and cheese, etc.
Paige Baxter is beyond furious when she learns that her ex and his brother have opened a bakery down the street from hers!! She stops by and declares war on her ex, Tanner, and so it begins. The pair attempt to one up each other at every turn.
Meanwhile, the other siblings are making nice and begin dating...will there togetherness affect the war between Paige and Tanner? When Tanner discovers Paige’s secret, they call a truce...can they really forgive and move on? An apparent stalker is thrown into the mix and the drama ramps up. Overall this was a good story. Took some effort to get used to Paige...she was too angsty. Loved the other characters though and the HEA was sweet.

Maybe with Different Narrator

Once again, a narrator ruined what could have been a potentially cute story. Since the main characters were males, the narrator should've been male. I stopped listening at first chapter.

Second Chance, First Chance. Bakery Wars

I received a free copy for a voluntary and honest review.

Twin brothers back from deployment find their business burned to the ground and decide to move back to their home town. Subsequently they go into business across the road from sisters....one an ex girlfriend and the other a potential relationship in the making
POV from all 4 which I live knowing what’s going on in their minds.
Fun waiting to see where this all goes...humor, hurt feelings, repressed emotions and romance.
Fun dialogue and a narrator that provides dimension to the characters
Great series with more to come!

Sweet story with cupcakes, rivals and twins!

Mann Cakes by Mysti Parker was a fun, sweet cupcake filled listen. At a little over five hours, it had plenty of time to develop the characters and intertwine a few different storylines to keep the time flying by. As the description states, Paige and Morgan own a cupcake bakery. Tanner and Garrett move back to town after an unfortunate mishap and open up a rival cupcake bakery. Paige and Tanner used to be in a relationship way back before he messed it all up and Morgan and Garrett have always been friends...who might want more. There's rivalry, Paige's son whom nobody is sure of the father's identity, someone seeking revenge, and of course romance. It was a fun listen. There are a few sex scenes, but nothing too crazy over the top. Addison Spear did a good job with the narration. She brought the characters to life and I'd happily listen to another of her narrations in the future.

Fast paced romcom

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This was a fast, cute and steamy read. I loved that the heroes were twin brothers cuz I'm a twin myself! The mann cakes idea was kinda hilarious and it was interesting how it worked out. I think the only thing I didn't connect to was the fact that they were so young and felt like they had to be married and have everyone figured out by 24. As someone who's a little beyond that I kept thinking back to when I was 24 and marriage was the last thing on my mind lol. I also thought both the brothers should have gotten their own books because everything they were all going through felt crammed into one short book. Overall I dug it, if she made another book in this series I'd read it.
