Summary

When life goes sideways, embracing the adventure is the fastest way to set things right.

One day I was just a widow facing the prospect of an empty nest, living a life that was anything but enchanted. The next, I had discovered my magical roots, and my rightful place as the Guardian of the portal between the Faery and Earth.

There was shock. And there was fear. After all, no one plans to start over at 45. I intended to grow old with my husband. I thought we’d live an ordinary life. So I’ll be damned if I’m going to waste this opportunity to live in a world I always thought was imaginary.

I’m half-witch, half-faery, and facing dangers as real as the ache in my bad knee. Ibuprofen and caffeine keep me going, and I could do this for the rest of my life. Whoever thinks my family home is an easy mark better take notice: The new Guardian in town isn’t going down without a fight.

After all, she’s already learned to let go of her simple existence and believe in the extraordinary power inside of her. What could possibly stop her now?

great story,

I really enjoyed, this book as soon as I got used tot he narrators voice, she sounded as though she had a bit of a cold. The only let down for me was the ending, the story just stopped, when you know there is more to come, and was not even left on a cliffhanger it just stopped and i felt this let the book down and also left me feeling a bit let me down to

The writer has a great imagination, and I thought the story was lovely, I will be listening to next one in the series, hopefully the editing will be a little better

Fantastic!

I loved this book, it was fast paced and action packed, and incredibly steamy. I really enjoyed the characters and snarky middle age jokes, it was a great start tongue series. I received this book in exchange for my honest review.

Disappointing

The author seems to be too lazy too research even basic facts about England so is very vague regarding locations, place names and since when has small bears been seen in Northern England?
The narrator reads the story in a very dis-jointed way, with too many pauses in odd places so there is just no flow to it.
The story and series could been entertaining but where's book 3? Book 4 is available but what is the point of carrying on with the series?

Great PWF

I love paranormal women's fiction. It's about time people write about life after 40. Fiona is a woman over 40, is a widow with 3 kids and inherited her grandma's house in another country. Fiona swears that the house is haunted. Now she's learning all about magic and magical creatures.

Brenda Trim is new to PWF, she's doing well. I liked this book, cause of all the other PWF books, the main character is relatable. Maybe not all her experiences, but i can relate to her age and what her body is going thru. I just immediately liked the main character and the characters she interacts with. I'll be sure to read the rest of this series as it comes out. If you like PWF, you'll like this book.

Wow what a start

Wow this was the start to a new series and boy this book have some great original ideas. And it certainly came with lots of action once the story warmed up and I’m guessing this series is only going to get better with each new book. With characters that you’ll love, some your not going to like. This book has twists and turns, action and adventure and at points you’ll be sitting on the edge of your seat. Certainly looking forward to listening to more of this series.
And the Narrator did an amazing job.
