Summary

Mine to protect. Mine to take. She is mine!

Five brothers.

One broken family.

A past that will haunt them forever.

"If you dare leave me for another - if you ever look at another man - if you ever let anyone else touch you...I’ll not let him live, Beauty. I won’t stop until I’ve ground his face into the dirt, until I’ve pulled out his eyes for looking at you, broken his mouth for daring to speak to you, until I’ve pulled out his guts, and," I glare at her, "smeared his blood on the ground."

Her breath hitches and her pupils dilate.

My thirst for violence seems to fulfill a need deep inside of her - one she doesn’t bother to hide from me, either.

"You’re not disgusted by my cruelty?" I tilt my head. "My penchant for brutality seems to appeal to you, Bellezza?"

"And what if it does?" She purses her lips, "What if it is the savagery at your core that attracts me...?"

This is the prequel to Mafia King in the dark mafia billionaire Arranged Marriage romance series.

🎧 Code for Review 🎧

A short setup novella from the male character's POV. Filled with violence and sex - exactly what you're looking for in an arranged marriage set in the mafia world - narrated deliciously by Jason Clarke.

The female POV preview at the end was enough to tell me I won't be continuing this series on audio - her voice is more suited to Regency romance or kids' cartoons than mafia BDSM.

Brilliant introduction to the Mafia

This story is an introduction to Michael, the reason for his obsession with and introduction to Karma. I am so going to read the next book. The narrator is excellent.

Intense opening chapter!

What a great start to a, new to me, series! Intense and fast moving, the scene is set for what I anticipate will be a compelling listen. Michael's presence is strong and focused. A protector and leader Michael is surrounded by his brothers who he leads and protects, keeping them as safe as he can from the dark, looming presence of their father. But his life is about to change. I am excited to continue this journey! As always, an immaculate performance from Jason Clarke as narrator. He brings a richness of tone and natural expression to the story drawing you into the narrative with seemingly effortless skill. 💖💖💖💖💖

#JasonEffingClarke

What an introduction! This prequel has definitely grabbed my attention, and I can't wait to see what Michael and his family have going on. The peek of a backstory of a Mafia family with all kinds of issues is very intriguing. Add some interesting proclivities of the brothers, and I'm all in.

Growly Jason Clarke is amazing, but add some Italian, and COME TO MAMA!!

Jason Clarke's narration is beautiful!

Excellent Prequel!

This is a prequel to the Arranged Marriage series, a Mafia Romance, one of my favorite subgenre. I highly recommend to listen to this prequel before the first book in the series. This is an excellent introduction to Michael and Karma's story. Jason Clarke did an excellent job with the narration. I love his voice. I enjoyed it, and I highly recommend it.

Good But I need more!!

This is a very short introduction into the family. We get to meet the brothers and half brothers and see them a little bit in their element. In here we get to hang out with Michael who is the Capo and see his stresses and frustrations.

I did listen to this on audio. Jason Clarke sounds great as these men! Listening to this only makes me want more.

Great start!

In this prequel to Mafia King, Michael is mafioso and capo of the family. He is ruthless and head of a band of brothers and half-brothers who live by a code of vengeance. Luca is his second, and it's on this day that information comes to them about a spy among them who has been caught passing the information on to the Seven. The Seven are among the most wealthy and powerful men in England and they believe that Michael's clan kidnapped them as children and held them for ransom. When the spy is revealed, Michael plans to take vengeance on the sister-in-law, Karma West, and intend to make her pay with her life.

Spicy prequel!

A spicy and delicious teaser to start the series. So much happened in this prequel and I can't wait to devour the rest of the series. Michael is deliciously sinful and his daddy alpha vibes are super hot. He's overprotective and I can't wait to see where this series goes.

Jason Clarke's gruffy voice was the perfect choice to narrate Michael. His range is always amazing and I'm looking forward to more of him as Mafia heir who will turn into a King when he gets Queen.

Short and packed with information about new series

Mafia Heir, an Audiobook by L. Steele is the fascinating prequel to the entire Mafia Arranged Marriage series. LOVED this so much as it introduces all of the characters in the upcoming series, the five brothers…. This one brings us closer to Michael and Karma. This is where everything begins.

Dark, brooding, incredibly absorbing….very, very short, fast read….but, well worth it for the introductions it provides!!!

This Audiobook was narrated by Jason Clarke, whose deep, growly voice is perfect for performing this story! I hope he is part of the continuing Audiobook narrations!

I am volunteering to leave a review for an Advance Reader Copy of this Audiobook.

Holy Wow! Pants on Fire HOT HOT HOT!

Mafia Heir is the backstory of Michael, capo of the Sovrano family. He's a flawed man. He's angry, he's prideful, he's resentful. And he's ruthless and driven to obtain his goals. His brothers come first in his life. But he loathes his father, the Don, who beat Michael as a child and, as we learn, beat his mother to death. When the Don orders Michael to kidnap Karma West (Summer's sister who "goes on a trip to Italy with a guy she just met" in the Billionaire's Fake Wife) in retribution for something that Karma's father did, we learn that Michael's family loathes Karma's family, and perhaps the Seven, just as much as they loathe the men who kidnapped them.

The real gem here is the narration by Jason Clarke. Disclaimer: I love Jason Clarke's voice and narrations. Here, his deep, growly, somewhat sinister at times voice is just so perfect for Michael that I spent the first 10 minutes of the book saying, "wow, Jason is perfect as Michael!" Then, when Jason pronounces the Italian phrases that L. Steele scatters throughout the pages as so many found pearls, I genuinely swooned a little. I will say that Jason's Italian gets better as the book goes on.

Would I recommend this book? Heck, yeah. I can't wait until Mafia King comes out and I can listen some more!
