Summary
A gripping British crime thriller set in Suffolk’s mysterious Rendlesham Forest, Mad Dogs follows DI Harrison Baird as he races to solve a deadly midnight attack and abduction while a ruthless killer—and the detective’s own dangerous past—close in.

The past always comes back to bite you…

Still reeling from the horrors of his last case—and from a run-in with his nemesis—all DI Harrison Baird wants to do is enjoy some quiet time by the coast, and plan his return to Aberdeen.

But the Suffolk wilds have something else in store for him: three people attacked at midnight in Rendlesham Forest, a place famous for extraterrestrial encounters. One is badly injured. One is dead.

And one has been abducted.

With time running out to find the missing man, and all evidence pointing to something inexplicable, Baird and the Southwold Major Investigation Team must use all of their resources to track down a vicious killer.

The case is the least of Baird’s worries, though. His encounter with DCI Kett has set in motion a terrifying chain of events in the peaceful seaside town.

Death is inevitable. The only question is whose.

Cornered by mad dogs and Englishmen, Baird must confront his past if he has any hope of making it back to his homeland alive.

But by doing that, all hell is about to break loose…

I really enjoyed this book, it felt to me like the author had a lot of fun writing it and Angus King had a ball narrating it. To be slightly blasphemous, I'm enjoying this series more than the Kett ones! A tad silly at times and some deliberately ridiculous names and situations had me chuckling like a teenager. A great listen.

Fun book, a bit silly at times
