The miscommunication trope is done perfectly, the Hero is: Chef’s kiss!
Our heroine is sweet and strong and just so refreshingly open about her sexuality, seriously… she embraces her wants and needs and it all feels so nicely done…

To start with, for the sake of rarity, the female main character is strong, knows what she wants, has a backbone and is not portrayed as stupid and helpless like women in many fantasy stories.
Her relationship with her husband, even though it starts with an arranged marriage, is healthy, they communicate well with each other and dare to take risks for their relationship.
I adore Ophelia, who is a humble, and genuinely lovable human woman who has lived for a long time in isolation from her family and community.
She gets her chance to start over in the Shadow Realm and there the story begins...
Her new husband, King Allerick is skeptical of her in the beginning, but I think she surprises him in many ways despite all the misunderstandings and prejudices he has against human kind. Yet Allerick has integrity, is a good king who loves his subjects, and feels an inexplicable attraction to Ophelia.
The narrators did a fantastic job and elevated the book in a wonderful way. I highly recommend the book and give it the highest number of stars!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💖💖💖💖
