Summary

Among the Space Wolves there are as many sagas as there are warriors. Though none quite like that of Lukas the Trickster.

Renowned and reviled in equal measure, the Jackalwolf has ever stood apart from his brothers, passed from pack to pack by embittered Wolf Lords. But as a new enemy invades the icy reaches of Fenris at the height of the Helwinter, Lukas finds himself facing a foe who may rival even his legendary cunning - the drukhari corsair, Duke Sliscus.

In the battle between wolf and serpent, who will emerge triumphant, and who will lie on red snow?

Lukas the social justice warrior 😳

I was really surprised at the level of philanthropy and socialism given to Lukas character, in a quasi fascist society like Warhammer it was the last thing I expected to see, the book itself was very enjoyable and at times quite amusing, John Banks narration was superb and lifted the characters out from the book

Really blitzed this one. A cracking story, brilliantly told / performed! Adds a subtle new dimension to the sagas of the Space Wolves!

Awesome

I’m fairly new to warhammer lore. Some of it can be confusing if you don’t know much about the universe but this was pretty straight forward to follow. You don’t need to understand the inner workings of the imperium and it’s military to follow along (god it’s complicated) so I’d recommend it for fans and for more casual fans that just want to read about crazy, angry, drunk, Viking, man-wolf, super soldiers, monsters and sneaky sh**s all scrapping and murdering each other.

Fantastic

A really great and fun book in the 40k realm. Lukas is a breath of fresh air and a side not often shown in the grim stories of the far future. Well worth a listen and well performed by John Banks.

I hope for a sequel

A quality 40k title with an interesting character that moves at a steady clip. Never felt it drag on once through the whole experience.

Amazing

As much as this is an audio drama, it is also a comedy, Lukas' behavior is so funny and rash. My favorite part was when he was playing around with his new heart that was a grenade. Lukas was so fascinated and didn't seem to care if it may blow up while the Wolf Lord and Iron Priest were not so enthusiastic at Lukas' new curiosity. A great audio drama to listen to while painting Space Wolves.

Fun but a bit shallow

I am a big fan of the tabletop game and the two armies in this book are my absolute favorites. Unfortunately, while the some fun build up and fencing takes place the novel never really takes off. It is absolutely chock full of potential but in my opinion, falls a bit short of what it could have been. If you are coming here from the wonderful Horus Heresy novels you will likely be a bit disappointed.

On the flip side if you want to hear about too very cool, but minor characters (one of which definitely deserves to get his rules back) you could certainly do worse than this book.

Not even bolter-porn

Boring story, poor character development. Bland lore additions. Action is not tied to the plot and always feels contrived. Worst of all... it's not even slightly funny.
