About this listen
He lost her once. Now, he will do anything to have her back. Anything.
Welcome to Silver Falls University, where the elite come to thrive. My life as a queen bee was always traced for me. I'm rich, I come from an influential family, and I constructed my personality to become the girl everyone wants to be. I rule Silver Falls University with bright smiles and the pretense of being everyone's friend.
But in a place where toxic rich kids love to see others fall, no one is safe. Especially when my family loses its power and someone threatens to spill all my secrets. In the blink of an eye, my life as I knew it crumbles, and to save the people I love, I'm forced to initiate into the one place I thought I'd never be—the same Secret Society that betrayed my family.
Powerless, I'm thrown into a world of men who want nothing but to use and break me, and only one person can save me. My ex.
He wants to take care of me even though I hate him. He wants to protect me when he's not allowed. And he wants to make me his, even if it puts us both at risk.
I have no hope of surviving a secret society. But if Christopher Murray makes me his… I have no hope of surviving him.
Loving the Liar is an angsty, secret society, dark romance from bestselling author Lola King. This is the first book in a series of interconnected standalones. Intended for mature listeners.

I loved her detailed writing it did have me intrigued and the story was well crafted, but there were some parts that made me feel uncomfortable.
There was a certain scene in the book that I thought was cruel and more like torture and how the female character could have been turned on eluded me...Maybe it is just me I don't understand the pain and pleasure thing.
What also didn't sit well wih me was the fact that she calls him DADDY..I honestly do not like that it makes me cringe.
But now that is out of the way I did actually like most of the book and was invested in the story and the characters...I do like a good secret society book but wow its like going back in time to the stone ages and woman are just used as objects.
Ella and Chris are very Toxic..!!
Ella Baker is the popular girl at university she is the Queen Bee whose life is about to fall apart.
Chris Murray is her brother's best friend and Ella's EX..They dated secretly 5 years ago and he broke up with her..She never forgave him.
Now he is back and working at the University and he wants Ella back even though he is obligated to someone else.
Ella's family is in trouble with the Silent Circle a secret society her father was a member of, they owe them money...and it is Ella who pays the consequences for it...The downfall begins and Christopher's manipulation and control takes over.
I did not know if to love or hate Chris he could be tender but he is so obsessive, possessive and unhinged when it comes to Ella...He has ulterior motives when it come to Ella.
He has touch her and die vibes but has his own problems within the society.
Ella is in such a no win situation and she tries to resist him only to fail.
I would definately heed the trigger warnings for this story you do wonder how this is love.
The narration by Heather Firth and Corvin King was really good I thoroughly enjoyed listening to them tell this story..It was better to understand with them reading it to me.
I have not been deterred by the parts I wasn't sure about in this story as I want to know what the other characters stories are in this series and will look forward to listening to book 2.
Loving the Liar is a good story but prepare yourself for a very toxic second chance dark romance.
4 Stars.
