Trials and Love
I loved this book and these characters, especially Nate, David, and Joshua. I had some personal dissatisfaction with Colin, but that is probably just me. I liked Nate’s conviction, and that he was willing to put what he thought was right above all else, including his career. At first, I couldn't understand David. He may have been doing what he thought was best for Nate, but he seemed focused on the material and not what was important to Nate. The difference almost broke them apart and it was heart-rending. David was so afraid that voicing his feelings would break them, so he stayed silent trying to keep them together. When he finally had his 'aha' moment and then poured his feelings out to Nate, it was cathartic and beautiful. I LOVED their story. It was so realistic in describing the challenges and angst that even devoted, established couples can face in their lives, and how it can tear them apart. I loved the way Nate and David came out stronger.
I didn't like the story of Colin and Joshua as much. Although there is instant attraction, they want different things. Colin doesn't want a relationship, just friends with benefits, while Joshua wants something permanent. I liked the way Joshua stuck to his beliefs. To me Colin just seemed selfish. If he knew he wasn't willing to give Joshua what he needed, he should have just let him go instead of continuing to to try to get what HE wanted. Honestly, I was glad when Joshua moved away, and I felt it served Colin right. He seemed stunned that Joshua would actually leave. So full of himself! Then, he proceeded to sleep with a bunch of men to 'forget' Joshua. I don't want to give spoilers, but I hated the way Joshua ended up giving everything up for Colin. His job, his home, his family, all for Colin's love. Colin didn’t give up anything for Joshua, except his freedom to be with other men.
I liked the way the two stories intertwined and the two couples connected and became friends. Also the sex was steamy and intimately beautiful.
Overall, the narration was great. I loved the soft, smooth cadence, but there did seem to be a bit of shift and some unevenness around Chapter 12. It jarred me a little, but didn't detract from the story.
I received a complimentary copy of this audiobook and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

Wonderful Performance by Walker Williams!
What an absolutely stunning performance by Walker Williams! Mr. Williams’ voice is rich and appealing, and he takes care to use a distinct voice for each character. This is the first opportunity I’ve had to listen to this talented narrator, and I’m looking forward to many more.
Love’s Magic, the first book in Janice Jarrell’s Revolutionary Heart series, is the story of two couples facing… well, some trials.
I always like to see how authors handle established couples and Ms. Jarrell does a really nice job with Nate and David’s story. The love between them is clear and powerful at the start of the novel, and when their issue blows up there’s no doubt how much pain they’re in.
The second couple, Colin and Joshua, have to work their way through more traditional issues. I like how Josh stays true to his values, and makes Colin work to get him back. Total opposites, Ms. Jarrell takes the opportunity to set up the story in the next book, Love’s Trials, and I can tell it’s going to be a doozy.

Wonderful tale full of strong emotions of four men
This was a really enjoyable contemporary romance! A new author with some great characters, an interesting story line and everything works well together.
It's the first time I've read about two separate couples in one book but I found that with the way it was written, everything worked really well. The same as well as it's my first time reading about an already established couple, Nate and David. It was good reading with them already being in love and happy together though what made they relatable was the worries that each man still had about themselves and their worth to the other. Alongside them we have the meeting and developing relationship of Colin and Joshua. Sometimes frustrating with Colin because of his self doubt and how long things took but overall this book is wonderful to read with many heartfelt moment. Because of the different times at which we first meet the MC's, we also then get to read and follow different times of a relationship. It's easy to fall in love with all of the men, each with their endearing qualities and Jan's writing ensured that I was fully engaged in their story's, needing to know how things were going to turn out. I'm really looking forward to book 2, focusing on Colin and Joshua, and seeing how well their doing as their relationship moves forward.
I highly recommend this book and this new author. It's a great contemporary romance with a twist, following two separate relationships that are slightly linked.
Walker Williams is a new to me author who has done well in portraying the variety of strong emotion from the four men throughout the story. His narration keeps your attention through the book, moving along at a steady pace. What I struggled with was the lack of difference between the men's voices. There was very little change to pitch/tone/accent and it made it hard to tell who was narrating when we change POV mid chapter as there was no break between paragraphs.

Painfully topical
I wish this book wasn’t so relevant, but it is. Although crime is at its lowest level in years, it does still exist. Violence still takes place in our world. And college campuses are not immune. Women get drunk and then assaulted. Men can get gang raped for being too ‘gay’. People can get mugged. The high-profile incident earlier this month is proof no one is guaranteed safety and security.
This book takes place with the backdrop of campus violence. Each man in the story has a distinct role to play. Colin is the cop. He’s blunt, honest, and wants perpetrators prosecuted. He sees things as black and white. Joshua, a Title IX consultant, works in the gray areas. His job is to ensure students are treated fairly. It’s a job I’d never heard of. (Although being Canadian definitely has something to do with that. I guess our student liaisons would be an equivalent.)
Nate is the young professor who intervenes during an assault on a young woman and himself becomes a victim. No longer willing to hide in the shadows, he becomes a leader in the movement to end violence on campus. A crusader to get the college administration to pay attention to what is going on and to be proactive rather than reactive. David is his partner and he worries about Nate. He sees pitfalls in being branded a troublemaker. His cautionary stance is a point of friction between the two men.
So two couples. One clearly established and one that’s just beginning. With the reality of violence in their shared community, things are bound to get complicated.
I really enjoyed this book. Something about the characters compelled me. The men drew me in to their struggles. I have to say I related to Nate the most and Colin the least, but I suspect that was how the author intended it. Or maybe not. Each reader will have their own reaction. I will say I was annoyed it took Colin so long to get his head on straight. At least once he did, he was all in.
Walker Williams is a narrator I enjoy and this book was a challenge. There is a lot of head hopping – changing of point of view – even within scenes. It can be tough for a narrator to change so abruptly and bring the listener along with them. Also, in print books, scene changes are denoted with double line spaces. In an audiobook, we count on the narrator to give that break. They weren’t always there and sometimes it took me a moment to realize we were in a new scene. Was it a little annoying? Yes. Did it detract from the book? No. All that being said, I can strongly recommend this book as it is topical and important. Oh, and two great love stories.

An interesting collection of intertwining characters.
I feel like this was a real-life read of an established couple reaching a crossroads and a new attraction blossoming onto a second chance at love. I really enjoyed these couples and feel this was a uniquely written collection. The style did take a little while for me to sink into but once I was emersed in the lives I needed to know what happened next. I really enjoyed the characters progress and how it was very authentically real and would match real-life scenarios.
I felt for Nate and David and my heart broke as they appeared to break. I did feel like I was coming into this story about halfway through. I felt like I was missing something but once I got past that my heart was opened to the hardships both Nate and David face together and individually.
I loved the intertwining links between all the characters and how the author did this was fantastic. I loved getting to know Joshua and Colin and their connection was hot! I feel these two were the perfect match and I’m so glad they found their ways back to each other even if their separation broke my heart.
All in all, this was a steamy, realistic story with great characters, serious real-life topics and loves that faced hardships and came out on the other side stronger and better for it. A great collection and realistic read!!!
Thanks for reading!

This is book 1 in the revolutionary hearts series and can be read as a standalone.
This was a sweet romance featuring two couples, David and Nate, and Colin and Joshua.
Nate is strong willed and passionate about everything he does. He was brave and courageous to stand up for himself and the people around him.
I was disappointed in David at first for not supporting him and pulling away when he needed him the most. But looking at it from his perspective, I can relate to where he was coming from. I was happy that he redeemed himself in the end and helped Nate and his students.
Joshua and Colin were absolutely adorable and it was nice seeing their young romance blossom.
Overall this was a poignant, heartfelt and captivating romance! The characters were likeable and well fleshed out. The plot was compelling and kept me engaged.
Walker Williams's narration was smooth, seamless and highly entertaining.
I definitely recommend this if you like a sweet, opposites attract romance paired with medium angst and all the feels.

Angst, emotion, love...
Love's Magic is the first book in the Revolutionary Heart series by Janice Jarrell. This story has a lot of drama, emotion, and love.
It is well written with interesting plot and characters. We also get to see the evolution of one love relationship and a story of how one established relationship withstands an conflict.
Nate suffered an attack and is hurting. He isnt feeling the support he should from his partner.
David loves Nate but he really pissed me off. He needed to figure out how to communicate with the love of his life. They need to communicate to keep their relationship strong.
Colin doesnt want a relationship and even though he is falling for Joshua, he is doing everything to get those feelings to let go of him... but is it too late? It might be too late to even take the chance after he fails to communicate well with Joshua, who cant do casual and decides to leave town and get away from all the drama that is going dow. Colin is going to have to step up, grow up and communicate to win back the only man who has gotten to Colin beyond just physical pleasure.
Oh yes, this story has angst, intense topics, and many feels.
Narration is done by Walker William's and does a fantastic job bringing this story to listeners. The voice fits well with the characters and helps get lost in the tale. Good job.

Pretty good start to the series!
4 Stars
Love's Magic is book 1 in the Revolutionary Heart series and it follows two couples, David and Nate, who are already together when the book starts, and Colin and Joshua, who meet a bit after the book begins.
Let's start with David and Nate. I loved Nate, I think he was my favorite of all the MCs. He was strong and stubborn and determined to do the right thing no matter what. It took me longer to like David. His excuses for not supporting Nate after what Nate went through were flimsy at best and I just wanted to throat-punch him several times. He pulled through for Nate and his students in the end, though, so there's that, but it took him forever! They had good chemistry, but I would've liked to see a bit more of how they got together, the summary we got was definitely not enough for me.
Joshua was probably my second favorite MC and I was very glad when he went away, forcing Colin to realize what he could be losing. Colin was a bit ugh, difficult for most of the book, although he finally did right by Josh. They were a good match, once Colin stopped being so headstrong, and their attraction and growing feelings were palpable.
Overall, this was an entertaining audible and a good start to the series. There was a lot going on with the rally and the relationships and other issues, and with four different POVs, things got muddled sometimes. One thing, or rather two things, that I appreciated was that both the MCs who messed up actually did the grand gesture and made up for what they did.
Walker Williams is a new-to-me narrator and while I thought there were parts where he needed to inject a bit more of emotion, he did a good job for the most part and did justice to both the story and the characters.

Fantastic audio performance!
Love's Magic is my first book by Janice Jarrell and my first audiobook by Walker Williams and I loved it. The story is great but this is a case of an outstanding audio performance greatly enhancing the story for me. I had a few minor issues with the story but Walker Williams' performance pretty much made me forget all about them.
I listened to this book a few weeks ago and deliberately waited to review it because I wanted to let to story settle with me a bit. It's a complicated book that details the love story of two different couples who eventually become connected and friends.
I know from reading Janice Jarrell's bio that she's been writing fan fiction for a long time but Love's Magic is her first full-length novel. I was skeptical that it would be a good book because it involved two separate couples. I've never read a story like this before which was part of why I wanted to review it. It seemed like a pretty ambitious undertaking for a first novel but she really nailed it! Please, please read the detailed blurb as it explains the story so much better than I ever could.
Love's Magic got all of my emotions involved, I laughed and I cried, both sad and happy tears, and this is the surest sign for me of how much I loved a book. Both of the love stories were so compelling I'd be hard pressed to say which couple's story I liked best.
I really want to read the other books in this series but I'm kind of holding off (even though I own all of them already) to see if they come out in audio. I think the author is working on this now. If the next one doesn't come out soon, however, I'll start reading. 😊
A copy of this audiobook was provided to me but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author.

Great story
Trope: Hurt/Comfort
Heat Level: 3/5
Trigger warning: This story revolves around a case of attempted rape and attack on a helpful bystander and discusses other cases of rape, suicide, and attackers not getting justice.
This is the story of two couples, linked together by a crime committed on campus. While it does have a heavy focus on their individual relationships, it also focuses on one of the main character's attack after coming to the rescue of a female student who was being attacked. It is a story full of angst, love, hope, disappointments, and a fight for what’s right.
When Nate was attacked, David was beside himself. He loved Nate, and doesn’t want to live without him. When Nate recovers, they soon realize they stand on opposite sides of how they believe Nate should go forward with his protests against the college board’s decision. It is the theme for the rest of the book. They have to navigate together, and decide what is right for them, and their relationship.
Colin is the campus policeman who interviews Nate and the girl who was also attacked. He focuses on cases of assault, as they hold a deeper meaning to something he’s kept to himself for so long. His work brings him in contact with Joshua, who works for Title IX. There’s an instant pull felt by both, but it’s ignored for a while. Once it can’t be ignored, they discover they stand on opposite sides of the relationship scale. This is their story of navigating their feelings for each other, and deciding if it’s worth fighting for.
This story is emotional, but not extremely heavy. It is well written, and the characters are easy to like. Being the first in a series, I believe it sets the stage perfectly for us to follow Colin and Josh’s relationship as they deal with what’s to come.
Walker Williams does a fantastic job bringing this book to life. It’s not hard to recognize which character is speaking, as he does s great job differentiating their voices.

So much love!!
This is the story of David & Nate and Colin & Joshua. I really love how Janice Jarrell blends all the characters in the story and future stories. I love how she creates two stories within the same story. She told the story of David and Nate and their horrific ordeal when Nate is attacked and how they overcame it. David was super insecure at times. Nate, not so much. Then we got to meet Colin the tough Irishman and Joshua the sensitive psychiatrist. Colin and Joshua had tough backstories. Colin still suffered from his past, Josh was able to move on from his. It had all the feels, steamy, romantic and angst. Walker Williams did an amazing job on the narration!!

loved it!
I don't think I've ever read a romance book where we follow two different couples. It was unique and beautifully written. Easy to follow and with great pacing. The first couple is established but they're facing some difficulties and the second couple just met. Both pairings were wonderful, I loved the chemistry and I loved the characters. Also some of the issues that are discussed in the book are really important and I appreciated that. It was a fantastic book and the narrator was brilliant.

Very good
Thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook from a new to me author and a new to me narrator! The characters were well developed and the plot was well thought out and interesting! A bit angsty, which I love...and a novel that truly drawns the reader in. I thought the narrator did a super nice job too and will be looking forward to listening to more of his work in the future!
