About this listen

The aristocracy is making a run for the throne in this latest thrilling, star-crossed paranormal romance entry in J.R. Ward's #1 New York Times bestselling Black Dagger Brotherhood series.

When Lyric goes out for the night, she's not ready for a brush with death—and she's really not ready for the male who comes out of nowhere and saves her. Her family, especially her father, Qhuinn, are so relieved she's okay, but all she can think about is her mysterious savior.

Without telling anybody, she seeks out Devlin, and they are immediately drawn to one another. Her near-death experience has given her a fresh appreciation for life and the desire to live it to its fullest, but she has no idea that he's hiding a secret—or that he could be the key to ending the war between the Black Dagger Brotherhood and the lessers forever.

This book felt rushed towards the end and had many inconsistencies and many things were glossed over. But the main characters are likable and it sets up the next couple's book nicely, so I will continue reading this series until the bitter end 😁

Not the best in the series

True the series, this latest rendition to the Black Dagger Brotherhood is no different. I can’t honestly critiqued it over much if at all. It does what we expect—
Further the story on a whole …
Incorporating the main love interest while… laying foundations for future stories, which I might add; I’m seriously looking forward to.

There’s a lot going on in this book as we all know… with the newest members to the family being highlighted exclusively … with a hint or a mention of the older and much beloved characters we come to love on the periphery (as it should be)

I thought nobody can outdo Fritz — in comes Sully’s Doggen “Willis” 🤣 totally upstaging—

Lyric & Devlyn was lovely as a new pairing and HEA well deserved. Now I’m looking forward to the next.

The narration—as usual we have come to associate with the series was flawless. Jim Francione is marvellous reader.

Love it. 🫶🏽💕

Back in Caldwell… and loving it.

I thought it was a bit too formulaic. I loved the early books but this did not catch the spark of the original series
