La confusa y peculiar España alimentó sus contradicciones, las del Emperador de la Cristiandad que arrasó Roma; las del rey puritano que vivía obsesionado con el sexo y las del pacificador que disparó los gastos militares. Pero en ningún caso este audio libro trata de regresar a los términos de la "leyenda negra," ni de recrearse en anécdotas poco creíbles, sino de contar cómo el Imperio español sobrevivió de pie varios siglos, a pesar de los problemas mentales y familiares de sus soberanos. En el imperio de los chiflados, la locura y la genialidad convivían sin problema.
