About this listen

She knew all about his womanizing reputation, but wasn't prepared for his charm

When Sylvia Jensen-Graham travels to London to inform her country neighbor, the new Earl of Greyfalcon, that his recently widowed mama needs him, she little realizes that she'll need to employ trickery just to see the Earl. But the Dowager Countess's complaints about her health and her rakish son have been driving Sylvia to distraction, so she poses as a messenger and boldly enters Greyfalcon's club. He unmasks her but soon begins minding his affairs - and Sylvia's - until Sylvia fears that she'll need rescuing from the consequences of her own good deed.

The story tells of a young and rather stupidly selfish girl maturing as she starts to see consequences for her silly decisions affecting other people. I did not find her very likeable at first, but as she matures I am warming to her. But I don't know that I will get to the end of the story as the narration is awful. English words mispronounced are not great, but it feels like a whole new level of punctuation has been added, with commas and full stops in the middle of phrases.
The narration is slow and normally I would deal with that with the speed setting on my iPod, but with the long breaks in the middle of sentences and in phrases, it is sometimes hard going to extract the meaning.
I usually enjoy reading Amanda Scott's books and I may have to find a printed copy to finish this one

Fairly entertaining story badly narrated

Story was good and kept your interest, however the narration was very distracting it was very clipped which spoiled the book

Different narrator

Story OK, narration very poor. She seems to be semi-literate, judging by the number of perfectly straightforward words that she can't pronounce, and the several sentences in which she puts pauses in the wrong places.

Awful narration, story OK

Story bland, orator speech sturtorous. May have been OK with another orator, who put some emotion into it.

The story would have been so much better with a more accomplished narrator. The plot is quite good.
