Summary

He’s, like, literally the worst.

Oakley Davis is the star running back at our university and the reason I’ve broken my vow to avoid the college party scene. Thanks to a mix-up with my advisor, I’m now serving my public relations internship as a glorified babysitter to the party-hard football players.

Specifically, Oakley.

He’s impossible to manage. His Instagram is full of pictures of him half-naked and drunk, and he’d rather attend parties than practice. His brand needs some serious work, and when he’s not driving me insane, he’s sleeping his way through the entire female population.

But I’m determined. I have plans to graduate a semester early, and nothing or no one will get in my way. I’m a Virgo, after all. Oakley Davis might be a privileged, cocky football star, but I’m Amanda Matthews, and I’ll do whatever it takes to get my A.

I just have to make sure I don’t end up falling in love with the idiot first.

Fantastic story and narration!

Absolutely loved this story! It was funny, hot and little bit heartbreaking in places. Amanda Matthews has moved colleges to get away from scandal. She's turned her life around and plans to put her head down, work hard and graduate early. Doing an internship is a requirement, however, it turns out to be something wholly unexpected and challenging to say the least! Oakley Davis is a Problem. He is incredibly talented but doesn't seem to care about his reputation or his future. Amanda explodes into his life, taking over his social media accounts, and generally whipping him into shape, whether he likes it or not. However, as time goes on, all the dislike and aggravation turns into something more as they find their footing and learn more about each other. This story was funny! Amanda is sassy, confident, and a hardass! LOL I loved her capable manner, her work ethic, and her attitude and determination to get Oakley to toe the line. I admired her fortitude considering everything she had been through. She had some fantastic lines in the story - her threats were the best! LOL. Oakley starts off as a pain in the butt but he toed the line quickly enough. He obviously had issues of some kind and but I found him pretty lovable and he loved to tease Amanda. This story was told solely from the female POV and I loved that through Oakley's actions, it showed the reader that he was thoughtful and caring underneath his devilish façade. The air between the two of them was tense and electric! I loved Oakley's playfulness and how he kept coaxing Amanda to get out of her head and enjoy the moment. What a fab, fun story! Amy Stricker's debut narration was FANTASTIC! She had brilliant delivery and comic timing. I really laughed at the comedic parts and she also managed to make my heart twinge with some of the more emotional scenes. I can't wait to listen to more works from her in the future.

Touchdown!

Romcoms are fast becoming a favorite sub genre for me. They break up the angsty, suspenseful books and refresh my mind. This one by Coralee June and Carrie Gray had me smiling and enjoying the budding relationship between Oakley and Amanda. Oakley is a rising football star with a terrible reputation. Amanda is a public relations major in need of an internship. When she is given the task of cleaning up Oakley's image, our story begins. Witty banter, undeniable chemistry and the life of college students is at the forefront of this new adult book. Amanda proves herself to be resilient and we see her mature through the story. Oakley has much more to him that originally expected and we see his layers peel. It's got some very sweet moments, from hysterically funny moments and incredibly hot moments. I enjoyed their journey, especially the epilogue. Laughing til the very end! Amy Stricker is a new narrator to me, and I enjoyed her performance. She has great voices, and fits the new adult genre perfectly. Her pacing flows easily and I loved her ability to give us all the feelings, from embarrassment to love with her voice.

4 star book 10 star cover

Before I start, I just want to take a moment to appreciate the choice that the authors made with the cover. If I was rating it on that alone then 5 stars, no doubt. However, I'm not doing that. I will say however that I did really enjoy this. It was funny and I did swoon quite a bit. The chemistry was definitely 10/10 and honestly Oakley might make my book boyfriend list. Who doesn't love a dirty talking jock?? And Amanda was one of the funniest heroine's I've read about in a long time I've been reading quite a few Rom-Com's lately and this for sure is high up the list overall. I couldn't put it down and needed to know how it was going to end. **I received an ARC of this and would like to thank the authors and Wildfire Marketing for the opportunity to review this. My review is unbiased and my opinion is my own.**

So funny

Haha I forgot how funny this book was! Amy did a fabulous job with the narration. My only "dislike" is that there wasn't really much difference between the male and female characters- but it was VERY minor- the emotion and levity she put into her reading was awesome.

Yikes.. not for me

Couldn't get past and hour of this listen. The characters were childish and ludicris. A little too HS for me to stomach. All this set in a world of rich, beautiful and priviledged people. First time listening to Amy Stricker and she is just not for me (at least not with this listen). In my case, her narration made this story so much more painful to listen to. IMO, find something else. Not worth the time.

Hilarious Sports Romance!

4 stars! Oh my gosh this book! It is the epitome of hilarious romantic comedy mixed with sports romance with characters with a ton of chemistry and steam! A perfect listen. Amy Stricker is a new to me narrator and I really loved her performance. Great tone and she told the story with just the right amount of passion and heart in her voice. Amanda is feisty, fiery and full of sass. She was the perfect match for Oakley. She kept him accountable and in line seen as they are trying to clean up his image to the public eye. She had a bit of a checkered past and has turned her life around but something about Oakley and his antics are about to thrust her back into the spotlight. Oakley is OTT at times, gorgeous and confident. He has all the ladies knocking in his door and Amanda has her work cut out with him! These two exuded chemistry and their connection was pure fire! Amanda had me snorting out loud in laughter at some of her inner dialogue!! “My lady button was preening like a motherf*cking peacock. She was used to the attention of the vibrating variety, and it was nice to feel something alive and warm—and not battery operated.” 🤣🤣🤣 This is my first book by Carrie Gray and second by Coralee June and I hope to see these two pairing up more in the future.

Good College Sports Romance

I really enjoyed the narration of this audiobook. The story was good, between hilarious and emotional scenes. The characters were interesting too. Some parts of the book were too over the top for me, but overall Looking to Score was a good entertainment!

At the top of my list for romantic comedies!

*review for audible version* I enjoyed this read so much! Its so freaking funny and fun, SO HOT, it has all the entertaining banter. The phrases that Amanda used throughout had me dying laughing. This is at like the top for me when it comes to romantic comedies, these authors are crazy talented at this genre. Amanda has a past she's desperately been trying to rectify with how she lives her life now. She jumps head on into an internship that'll take her where she wants to be. Oakley is her task but little does she know that its going to be alot harder than she thought. And to top it all off, he's hot asf and distracting and that starts to become an obstacle in itself. These two together are crazy entertaining and so electric together. The narrator is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! She is perfect as Amanda. I loved her voice so much. She's just on point from beginning to end. I hope to get a chance listen to more narration from her. She just nailed the role of this character! Overall, this is one of my favorite romcom's EVER! I can't wait for the next book from this duo. You definitely need to one click this read/listen ASAP!

Sportsy Enemies To Lovers Romance

Looking to Score dabbles with humor in this new adult sports romance. The mc's were fully developed with compelling characteristics. The manwhore portion is critical to the story and Oakley's character shows a deeper side. I really liked Amanda's character and her inner issues were well reflected in who she was. The chemistry between Amanda and Oakley is undeniable while listening to the cute banter between these two. I really enjoyed the epilogue and only wishes it was tokd in Oakley's pov too. Narrator Amy Strickers performance was drama enthralled and voiced with reactions. Her intonation was exactly what I would picture as Amanda. She really brought her character to a realistic level. Her tone was smooth and easy listen. I would definitely listen to other audio's performed by this narrator.

I love enemies to lovers and this was so well done. Amanda has such a sad backstory, and I totally see her need for escape. I love Oakley the growth he goes through in this book. These two come together in such a natural and organic way. They are fun and sexy and this is one hot book!
