About this listen

Detective Superintendent Roy Grace has to solve a disturbing murder whilst protecting an innocent eye witness in Looking Good Dead, by award winning crime author Peter James.

When a young woman’s body is found butchered in Brighton, Roy Grace cannot help but think of his own missing wife and her unsolved fate.

Elsewhere in the city, when Tom Bryce finds a disc left on a train, he simply tries to do the right thing – return it to its owner. But this attempted act of kindness makes him the sole witness to that same vicious murder.

Learning that Tom has made a statement to Grace’s team, the killers have to act. But when they plan the murder of the Bryce family, it’s not just revenge – it’s entertainment.

Although the Roy Grace novels can be listened to in any order, Looking Good Dead is the second gripping title in the bestselling series. Enjoy more of the Brighton detective’s investigations with Not Dead Enough and Dead Man's Footsteps.

Now a major ITV series, Grace, starring John Simm.

Critic reviews

I couldn't put it down (Mark Timlin)
Sharply plotted, suitably sordid
James dreams up a horrific intersection of extreme perversion and Internet technology in his frightening, expertly constructed second Det. Supt. Roy Grace novel . . . the rapid-fire suspense builds to a terrifying, graphic conclusion that leaves tantalizing room for future installments in the series
A sick website which features videos of people being murdered is at the dark heart of this razor-sharp crime thriller. Gripping - but not for the faint-hearted

Would you listen to Looking Good Dead again? Why?

No because the audio files weren't broken up into chapters, so it was a pain trying to find where I had got to before falling asleep.

Enjoyable listen

'Looking Good Dead' by Peter James.
Genre: Thriller

About the Book: This is the second book in the Roy Grace series. A man is irritated by a selfish loud fellow commuter. The fellow commuter left an unknown CD on the train and the man is curious to know what is on this CD. A video appears on the screen that disturbs him beyond belief. Witnessing this video sets off a chain of events with barbaric consequences. Will Roy Grace be able to stop this or will he become the next victim?

My Review: Another excellent thriller from Peter James. It is heavier than the first novel but just as gripping. I was hooked from the first page. I enjoy how you get to know more about Roy and his life including his love life. You can tell that the author has thoroughly researched the British police system. The novel has not been glamorized like many American detective thrillers. The pace is excellent and there is a great balance between show and tell.
The antagonist is pure evil and the author brilliantly evokes hatred for a fictional character.

Normally, If there is any mention of child sexual abuse in any form I can not read it. However, as it is not the main subject and it is more to show what an evil vermom the antagonist is, I was able to continue reading.

Triggers - Murder, Violence, Torture, Child Sexual Abuse and Rape.

Another brilliant thriller in the Roy Grace Series and I am looking forward to reading the next one.

Brilliant!

Very clever storyline, it makes you feel quite uneasy because the opening scene is not beyond the realms of possibility. Lots of twists and turns, you are never quite sure what the outcome will be. I am a recent convert to the Detective Superintendent Roy Grace series and this does not disappoint.
DS Grace droll sense of humour and on occasions self deprecating attitude is very funny and lightens the atmosphere, amidst all the suspense. I would recommend reading this series in order of publishing as it helps you understand DS Grace fully.

Excellent - but consider hard copy

Is this only half the book? I found it very short and there is a much longer version on the site as well. Very confusing having two versions.
