Story
You'd do anything to protect your child, wouldn't you? So would Howard Dougan. So much so that he moves his family from the big city to live in an old house on an island in the middle of a lake. He thinks they'll be safe there. There are memories on the island, but do they belong to the house, or do they belong to the Dougans? Howard doesn't realize that a secret is being kept from him, and when he does, it's far too late.

Story
The United Kingdom is an ancient land steeped in history and tradition, filled with prehistoric ruins, majestic castles, and a countryside sculpted from millennia of human habitation. Its rolling countryside is dotted with prehistoric burial mounds and stone circles. Medieval churches have elaborate stained glass windows and gruesome carvings, reflecting a mixture of hope and darkness. Every hamlet and village has tales that go back centuries, and folk festivals with roots in pagan times. Thus, it is not surprising that many believe the area is filled with ghosts.

Mark Gatiss ( Sherlock, Doctor Who, Game of Thrones) reads chilling tales by the unsung master of the classic ghost story: E. F. Benson. There's nothing sinister about a London bus. Nothing supernatural could occur on a busy train platform. There's nothing terrifying about a little caterpillar. And a telephone, what could be scary about that? Don't be frightened of the dark corners of your room. Don't be alarmed by a sudden inexplicable chill.

Story
From New York Times best-selling author Erik Larson comes his first venture into fiction, an otherworldly tale of intrigue and the impossible that marshals his trademark approach to nonfiction to create something new: a ghost story thoroughly grounded in history. Pioneering psychologist William James leads an expedition to a remote isle in search of answers after a family inexplicably vanishes. Was the cause rooted in the physical world...or were there forces more paranormal and sinister at work? Available only on audio, because as Larson says, ghost stories are best told aloud.

You Cannot Beat Grimy Old London For Gothic Creepiness
This was a very fun listen. While the writing wasn’t the best and the storylines not the most original, the author understands the gothic mileau, and so the stories, like all good ghost/horror stories, are greater than the sum of their parts. This was a very enjoyable listen. I liked the author’s narration, which delivered a very enjoyable listening experience.
