It spoiled the enjoyment of these books and was pretty grating... I didn't really get used to it until mid way through book 3 but there were still times when I had to remind myself that the characters were in their 30's and not their 90's.
I found it also very unrealistic that a character as strong as Zoe would allow anyone to manipulate and disrespect her the way she does in these books, but then with out that story line I guess there wouldn't be much else to write about.
I'm looking forward to the next installment, and praying it's read by a better narrator.

Then we went to a complete new narrator & this one had a very sleepy docile voice which was NOT Zoe Lake at all, it did take me quite awhile to get used to it although I kept passing out listening to it but again, I loved the storyline, it made me cry & laugh, incl my son who had no choice but to hear it when he came in from work, he had a good chuckle, specially on Zoe & Arics wedding (BTW I love the name Aric), I love the fact these two are SO much in love, they look out for each other & stand by each other no matter what & the fact this powerful mage has the heart to forgive those that have wronged them & give them a second chance!
I do find the battle scenes end too quickly would like a bit more magic from Zoe & what's happened to Aric, we're has Aric's input gone, it just seems now Zoe is doing all the fighting, even though she is a powerful mage, would also like to know how strong her powers are & what else can she do (anticipating more) come on give some back to Aric.
Out of them all I love Raphael, he is one cool 😎 vampire 🧛♂️ his wit is sharp & droll & funny. As for Kelsey she is quite the best funny sharp tongued friend, & Parys love her, would like to see more of her witches powers to come to light, she does seem to take a back seat to Zoe but I'd like to see her powers grow (but not as much as Zoes of course).
I'm now looking forward to the next trilogy in this series & it would be so nice to have these numbered. As far as I can tell we end with Raphael allowed to go into the sunlight, Zoe & Aric getting married & she also finds out she's pregnant. The next series they have a 12 Yr old daughter, what happened in between! Have I missed a series or something? Hope not! 😵💫
