Firstly: Don’t believe the level of action promised by Audible’s description. It's by no means The Embers of War or The Void trilogies. What it is is a beautiful story about two star-parted lovers, one of whom does everything he can to forge a world where things can be better. The other is an extremely capable woman with an enviable star ship and genome.

A real masterpiece in my humble opinion.

Hard science fiction with a healthy smattering of romance

The concepts were brilliantly realised but unfortunately we had to have a rather soppy story framing it.
The narrator chose to give the heroine a rather childish and quirky speech pattern which I found annoying
I enjoyed The Hole in the Sky on Audible much more - the female narrator does a much better job in my opinion
Luckily Hamilton is back to brilliant form with his latest book Exodus
