About this listen

Mortuary technician Cassie Raven believes the last thoughts of the dead linger like static in the air....

Cassie has always had a strange affinity with death, ever since her parents were killed in a car crash when she was four. At least that's what she grew up believing....

But that was a lie. Cassie's father is alive. He was convicted of murdering her mother and spent years behind bars. Now he's out—and he's looking for her.

He swears he didn't do it. And Cassie wants to believe him.

To find the truth, she must turn detective. As she seeks answers, help is to be found in inexplicable places—for the dead are ready to talk.

This was the 2nd in series by this author. I had been impressed with the 1st in the series too. The reader is tremendous, bringing the characters to life, with ample emotion and conviction. The use of words and imagery is at a level you would want, to entice you into the story. Just a very easy listen, thoroughly enjoyable. An author to look out for again. Recommend first in series too, both equally as good.

Well read, well written and intriguing storyline

Wonderful characters, such a refreshing change from the boring ‘crime thriller’ that I usually read. Excellent narration as well. I can’t wait to hear more about Cassie Raven. The first book gripped me so much I regularly checked for a sequel. The second has done the same so I’ll be checking back for more!
If you’re bored of police procedurals, want more of a personal story, interesting, modern and refreshing characters, with a suggestion of paranormal (or is it?!) thrown in, have a read of this series.

My favourite series in a long time

A very emotive & captivating series. A good variation on the usual murder procedural novels.
The books are well written with excellent narration.
I hope there will be many more to come.

Refreshingly Different.

More insights into the two main characters - both super interesting. Good story too. Can’t wait for the next in series.

Very good

This is the second book in the Cassie Raven series- and this is one of those series which need to be read in order to get the most out of it.
Cassie is a mortuary technician from Camden and this picks up from where the first book left off. She is still talking to her dead guests and occasionally gets a whisper back from them. This book focuses on her investigations into her parents pasts in the 1990s. She wants to find out about what happened and is helped along the way by her friend Kieron who has seen an upswing in his life and from DS Flyte.
The book is well-written, with really good characterisation of the main protagonists and a good sense of time and place. It was also well narrated.
Overall 5 stars
Narrator 5 stars
Story 5 stars.

Better than the first book IMO
