The audiobook narrator is one of the really good ones for this genre. She did a really good job.👏
This was a decent read. I loved how this world bonded humans with animals from 'the wilds' to gain and share their magic. I'll be really interested to find out if where they originate from becomes important! This made the magic feel like something a bit new.👍 However, the rest of the story felt a bit too formulaic. But that also meant it was really easy to enjoy, so swings and roundabouts.🤷🏻♀️
I felt the found family side characters needed a bit more fleshing out.🙏🏼 The mfc is ridiculously prejudiced. I'd like to think each generation learns tolerance, not in this world ... yet.😉 The mmc is hot, powerful, and protective. He shows compassion to women ... and that's about all I learned about him. I know it's book 1, but I'd have really liked more in-depth knowledge about him.🙏🏼
I'll definitely read book 2 as this author is usually one of my favourites.🤩
