About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

DCI Jim Daley is charged with murder - and everyone saw him do it - in the gripping new thriller from the bestselling author Denzil Meyrick.

In the middle of the night in Kinloch, the phone rings…

Detective Sergeant Brian Scott answers. It’s a message from his old friend and partner, DCI Jim Daley, which chills him to the bone:

‘She’s dead, Brian. I couldn’t take it anymore – I killed her! You have to help.’

Daley has been arrested for murder, and everyone saw him do it. The police have all the evidence they need to put him behind bars for life, but Scott still believes he’s innocent.

Is someone trying to frame him?

The search for answers takes Daley and Scott on a dark journey into their past, putting the people closest to them in immediate danger. And as the heartbreak takes its toll, Scott begins to wonder if this might be the end of the road.

Is it time to call last orders?

Another gripping story...makes a fitting end to the series.

The book itself was as excellent and compelling as all the other books in the series. Jim and Brian will be sadly missed. Missed most of all will be the superb author Denzil Meyrick. RIP

A fitting end to such a wonderful creation. Daley and Scott are surely up there with the best detectives.
Not forgetting the wonderful characters of Ella and Hamish and Hamish the cat.
I have read the whole series and then downloaded the audio versions and listened to them all again, such is the mesmerising narration by David Monteath.

RIP Denzil

I have listened to about 300 audio books including all 12 of the DCI DALEY books. Out of these books 'Last Orders' had me glued to it from start to finish. I haven't listened (non stop) in a single day before and on the edge of my seat! I was shaken at the end to learn of Denzel's young death. I will miss his writing and hope he can rest in peace - Andrew
